Oooh, new formation! Is the CENTER position the one in the middle? Dumb question, I know, but some of those formations has center off to one side.

Yeah - center would be the middle one. I'm hoping Bob will be cool with this formation, because I think it's different enough from other ones but also potentially potent... dunno.

I like the idea. I want to say "defenders should max out at center line" (and I still might), but I'm considering formation-based stamina in the future, so it might be that this formation requires more sramina from defense and less from the center. That's a thought for another day though.
I'll sim finals as soon as I can, but again, I'm mid-moving, so it's when I get some time. Hoping tonight or tomorrow.

In my mind, the Spear formation is actually a bit more defensive than offense, but it's also higher risk. Yes, the defenders cross the line, BUT the Forwards don't go as far up and the defenders only just barely cross the line. That also means they can easily be way out of position in certain circumstances where the other team snatches the ball away, leaving only the Center to have any chance of stopping their opponents. It's just a bit different than all the other formations, which would offer a little more variability to game play. Normal and Center are consistent but boring, since almost everyone plays them, so I was thinking that Spear might offer a chance to add another more-open-ended formation like Relay and Wide to the mix.

Well, what I'm thinking is that we can make stamina dependent on formations in the future. This formation allows for defensive shooting, which by current setup, is basically impossible. Yes, a defender CAN cross the line and shoot, but they'll likely pass before that happens. This formation would allow you to play a shooter as defense. One of the power shoot-from-center players. Not necessarily a good strategy for most teams, but who knows.
Anyway, point being, it might be a formation that requires different stamina amounts, should I ever move the game to a setup where different formations use different stamina. I'm considering a variable stamina, too, where position isn't the only contributor to stamina, but also how much action they had in the game. Thinking this might help cut down those "shoot from center" players because one might get 10 points in a single game, but that'll mean he uses like, 2 extra stamina now and can't play as many games, whereas the guy who saw no action lost no stamina and can play again. Again, just a thought I've had.
Okay, gonna post up tournament results now! This is the first time I've been on my computer in awhile. It's setup in an awkward spot and my neck is hurting, so they'll be fairly brief.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS!
For third place: Marlboro Mayhem vs Grizzly Bears It was an intense match! There were several blocked shots early on, even by each team's top shooters. Grizzlies played a strange "Auron Forward" formation to try to throw the Marlboros off. It was working at first, too, as he contributed a couple times to help the Grizzlies take the lead in the first half, 2-1! Then, in the second half, the Marlboros scored twice, taking the lead for themselves. The Grizzlies tied things up, but Tidus snuck in a shot to bring it to 4-3. With only a few seconds left in the game, Zangan took a shot to tie up the game, but it was BARELY blocked by Shinra (seriously, 49-49), recovered by Cloud, and the game was over. Marlboros take third!
The final match: Sublimely Magnificent 7 vs Highwind Diamonds Seifer did what Seifer does best: fight. But he's got focus! He finally got his pass on and got the ball to Jecht for the first point of the game. More fighting broke out with Seifer at the heart of it. He ripped the ball away again, then relayed it to Jecht through Balthier for the second point of the game. Things looking good for SubMags! Let's put it this way: Seifer's name is all over this game. Like, everywhere. He did a lot. He stole the ball and got it to Jecht for a THIRD point for SM7! Then FINALLY Rin marches the ball to the net to put a point on the board.
Second half rolls around, this time Diamonds looking to play. Rin gets the first point with a little difficulty, but that's about as good as things get for them. Jecht gets another point and puts the nail in the coffin. SubMags win their first tournament EVER with a score of 4-2! Good job, SubMags, good try Diamonds!
Tournament Standings: 1st: Sublimely Magnificent 7 2nd: Highwind Diamonds 3rd: Marlboro Mayhem
Good league/tournament everybody! Congrats on the win, Count, and congrats on both teams placing, Rich!
I'll start the next league at some point, but it might be a little while. Very busy currently, but hoping to get back to things as soon as I can!

Go Shinra, Marb's goalie. He blocked three shots during the Grizzle Game.
If we were to do Stamina based on how much the player participated, Seifer would probably need to sit out after this game. He was all up in everybody's grill. His name is mentioned over 250 times searching.
SM7 used the good ol' "pass the ball to Jecht" formation, which totally trumped the DMD's first try at the Jecht formation. The Diamonds put in two goals back to back, then it just becomes slug fest until Jecht once again gets the ball and sinks one.
Good job, Count. Your teams put up a great fight.

Huzzah! Thanks Rich!
Looks like the Seifer remake really paid off, as did approaching the team's dynamic in a new way. SM7 is probably most like their old rivals the Mercs now, since a major part of their strategy is beating the enemy team into submission, even if it's mostly Seifer who does so.
Jecht is a happy man.

Congrats, you guys! Man, Mercenaries haven't been in the top 3 since T5, and GB hasn't since T3... what's goin' on, Bob?

I think the Grizzlies have been focusing too much on league. If Orlandu were able to play in Round 2, they would've had a much better chance to enter the finals.
As for Mercs, well, they're the Mercs. They suck, but cause severe upsets. I mega-customized them a couple leagues ago and I've been trying to make it work, but I need more levels and rebuilds. Maybe next season they'll return to power!

For TME, Lean and Tohno have replaced Celes and No. 288, and Deling has undergone extensive training (those three player slots were completely rebuilt).

It might be awhile before I get my team all stated up. I'm going to a wedding next weekend and I've got court this week (as an intern, not in trouble).

Yeah, League #8 is going to be postponed for a bit. My school year started today and I'm completely overwhelmed, so I can't even begin to think about blitz just yet. I'm thinking it'll probably be September-ish when the league starts up. Sorry for delays. I hate to make people wait, but I'm teaching an all new class this year, not to mention two old ones, one of which has to be converted to Common Core, so I'm not even planned for tomorrow, and tomorrow happens in twelve hours. Until I'm on my feet again, I can't even speculate anything more specific than "September-ish." But hey, maybe I'll get really good at my new Computer Science class I'm teaching and learn cool new ways to use my program. It's a goal of mine to make blitz more user-friendly and maybe even work more autonomously. But until then, you're stuck waitin' on me
