Okay, guys! Time to start looking into League #6! We're up to Level 35, so get your line-ups together and submit them as soon as possible! I'm still looking into a few programming fixes, but the overall execution of the program should still work as normal, so no new twists this season (except we're going to try out a point-based tournament). By the way, I'm going to run a few tests before fully implementing, but I'd like to try an increase in ball drag in this next round. We'll go more blitzball-like and have the ball lose 20% each movement instead of 10%. The hope is that it'll require people get closer to shoot, but the problem could be that people need to get TOO close and get stuffed by defense like League #2. Fingers crossed, but I'll do a few tests with non-us teams before going for it completely. Might hit a happy medium and do 15% or something like that, too, but I'm thinking/hoping that 20% will be good.
But that's the warning for ya'll who've been working with the "long bomb" approach for wins (which is...basically everybody). Might not be as many of those anymore, but we shall see.
EDIT: Also, just for fair warning, I found something strange in the pass code that looks like it might make passing a lot easier, and that's being removed. I'm kinda thinking there was a good reason I had this weird code, but unless the tests go completely weird, then they're at 80% movement, too. They were at something insanely better than 80% before though, so maybe now passing will be a total suckfest. Or, maybe that code before was good and I just messed it up. Either way, I'm tryin' it.

Hojo and Deling have contracted Celes Chere to replace Mikoto, who has gone back to Bran Bal to contemplate mortality. (Celes is a completely new build).
Frimelda, after faithfully tending goal for the past few seasons, is taking a breather so that Llednar can get back in action. He says, "You'll never get past me." The verdict is out on that one. Cissnei is heading back to Midgar since pretty much all of the other Turks are busy playing Blitzball, so somebody's gotta keep up their rep, right? Desch takes her place.
***Sorry it took me so long, by the way... I always have a slow start at the beginning of a league, but I'm ready now! Huzzah.

I think I might delay the start until Sunday. I have most line-ups and such, but this is a busy week (Open House tomorrow at my work), plus Fleck is still MIA, so we'll see if he gets back from meat town soon enough to start the league. We need our reigning champs.
Also this gives me a chance to look at the programming and see if I can find the flaws.

Yeah, if you wouldn't mind taking a look at the Type bonuses. I don't know if the positively affected attribute is being given the boost it should.
Would it be more beneficial to the league if I took on a second team?

Yeah, I'll look over the bonuses. Maybe I'll throw some sort of error if it isn't being used so that we can see if a bonus isn't working correctly.
No, the Goers work just fine. If you'd LIKE a second team, I have no problem ditching the Goers, but if you don't want another team, it isn't necessary.

Made a new team, guys. Ampersandwich.
Made up of Shara Sigmund Victor Wakka Quin Macgregor Guinness, and Rooster. If I accidentally snagged someone's name, I apologize and I'll change it, but I looked through the lineups on the Registration page.
These guys use a completely different set of tactics, so watch out!

Mmkay, but some of the names need to be changed. I'm veto-ing the randomly-generated names from FFTA. Gotta be at least some form of in-game characters, not just something a random name generator pops out. I'd even take bit players like Johnny from FF7 that don't do much, but needs to be meaningfully-named.

Okay, I changed some of the names. But I'm keeping Guinness because he was a legit character in tactics, and MacGregor because he was real to me during one of my recent play-throughs of tactics. Also renamed the team: Highwind Diamonds - Shara Angeal Vincent Wakka Biggs Macgregor Guinness Rin

Quick head's up about the tournament/league. Mainly, sorry about not having it going by now. Real life threw me a few curve balls that I've had to deal with. I COULD start the league, but I know we were wanting to look at the programming, and I'd really like to do that, but it's been tough to sit down and do it lately (Long story short, I got a credit report that showed my credit being way more "meh" than it's supposed to be, so I had to investigate into possible identity theft and such. Long conclusion short: no theft, just a bunch of dumb people in this world).
So I'll get the league going after I do a once-over on the program. I have a few "fix" ideas that basically involve fixing my complicated coding to be more simplistic, since I think my coding is overly complicated.

No worries Bob! I've less than a month until my final major undergraduate project is due in, and I'm about a month behind schedule so I'm in full overdrive mode. Work limit break activated. So I'm being kept plenty busy, my life isn't missing blitzball right now XD

AHA! I found the culprit to our goalie issues. I ran a test and said "Gabe and Rich be trippin'. This Catcher stuff totally works." And it does. What DOESN'T work, surprisingly, is the Super Goalie package! Ugh. I suck at programming.
So! Here's what happened.
Gabe: No. 288 wasn't hitting as high as he should because his CA was actually 31, according to the program (obviously wrong). I think he was missing out on all the 0.5's that come with Super Goalie (getting only 1 CA where he should've been getting 1.5), making that package super crap as it exists right now. So that'll be fixed.
Rich: Shinra was also losing out from Super Goalie, but not as substantial as No. 288. The problem Shinra was having was that you put his bonus as "CA" instead of "C" (Initial for Catcher was just C, not CA). So, essentially, Shinra already had the NO package equipped because of that typo. Sorry, I should've caught it, but I try not to read anybody's playerdata.
So I'm going to fix Super Goalie so that it actually friggin works next round. I honestly don't know why the coding doesn't work--I've looked it over and it looks fine, but it must be one of those things where the input isn't what I think, so I'll play with it and test the heck out of it.
So rest assured, the bonuses work--they weren't the problem. If you want to submit new line-ups based on this information, feel free. I think we'll start the league on Sunday. See if Fleck's back by then, plus it'll give me time to fix the Super Goalie package and look at a few other bugs.
EDIT: Seriously, I've already fixed the Super Goalie bug, that's how simple it was. Ticks me off. I multiplied by 1.5 and it didn't work, but now I'm multiplying by 3/2 and it works. Go friggin' figure. Goalie issues are all resolved now. Just gotta deal with that weird teleporting issue now.
