WOO! Third season of Blitz! I got both of Gabe's lineup changes and adjusted accordingly. Was there anyone else who has any changes to their teams? If not, then we're good to go! Good luck to Loveless and the Guests! BAD LUCK TO ALL THE OTHER TEAMS!

Also, umm, you ever had those times where you fought hard to get something removed, only to find you kinda want it back? That's me and the Super Goalie. I don't know if it'd make the difference, but you'll notice that points are not only scored more frequently now, but a bit too easily, too. I dunno. I'm considering putting Super Goalie back up to 2 in the future, but we'll see how this league goes. While it may well be the case that goalies' stats are too low right now, I think we'd just end up with the same problem as before if we went back, which was that all goalies had to take several points in Super Goalie in order to remain competitive, which killed variation. Perhaps a better solution would be to buff up all of the other packages that offered CA, so that they gave like 1.25 CA or something. Certainly in Edgar's case, that small change would see his CA going up by 4, which is a pretty significant buff that doesn't really kill variation.

I could also do something with the base stat. For instance, I could say CA += LVL/2, so since we're level 20 now, I'd give +10 to all goalies. That's my big consideration now because of that very reason. But we'll play out this season and decide from there.

I think a += lvl/2 to goalies would be far too steep at this stage, 10 is a hell of a lot in terms of catch and I think the goalies only need to increase by 5 or so as it is right now. It is a good idea though, since with the way the packages are designed the non-catch stats are going to ramp up faster, making life harder for goalies. It does place a greater importance on defenders though!
Inherent goalie catch bonuses related to level in some way is probably a great way to let them keep up with the power curve though, and I think once we get to the end of this season we'll have a better idea as to how much that value should be.

Yeah, we'll keep it in mind this season. It might turn out we don't need too many points. Goalies ARE still blocking shots, just not as frequently as before. So we'll see.

Results are in! Check on the website!
SPOILERS:
Whoa! These are umm...interesting! League leader is currently a team that was bringing up the rear last time. They had a crushing defeat against...whom? Oh, one of the best teams ever. Wyvern's two teams are looking to change positions in the rankings this league, it seems. But who knows!
Not only that, but nice job, Count. You have the honor of having the first Goer victory! Like I said, the Goers seem very weak this time with the Aurochs hitting so hard in the first game. Not sure why. They ARE still mostly level 22 compared to our 20. But Jecht put 'em down! Good job! *confetti*
Definitely some interesting results thus far. Quite the flip-flop this season. Let's keep it up, ya'll! Send me the line-ups before Saturday-ish and I'll put up the results...Saturday-ish!

Woo! From terrible team last season to contenders again. Good times are ahead for SM7. Poor MAG though, not having a good time of it so far. Not sure yet if it's a dodgy formation, but they're against the Aurochs next so if it performs poorly against them I may have to abandon it for the time being. Fingers crossed it works though!

Yeah, currently the Jecht formation is 2/3 and Crescent is 0/3. Jecht formation seems decent, although it also seems that the teams that have used it are pretty decent teams (SM7 and TME). Crescent probably just has the issue of not completing things quickly enough. They might just be too far back and too spread out. But we'll see though. Versus the Aurochs will definitely be a telling feature.
By the way, I made the BlitzFormations page a bit more navigable by putting quick links on the mini pictures to jump to the big pictures, then making all big pictures jump back to the top. Much easier. Decided to put a bit more work into that page because I'm finding myself using it quite often. All these new formations. Pshhh. Crazy, crazy.

Round 3 Results are posted! Check the board and get next line-ups to me around Wednesday-ish!
SPOILERS:
Gotta say, I'm loving the flip-flop of this round, despite the fact that I'm currently lining the bottom with the Mercs. Funny that the Mercs and Shades are doing so poorly. I think this new format lends well to a weak defense because I believe both Mercs and Shades are defensive.
So far, it's looking like Grizzlies, Guests, and Loveless are the top contenders. I only mention Loveless because they have the highest points gained to points lost ratio. SM7 and TME are definitely tops, too. Interesting that the Goers are kinda flat-lining. Maybe they should have higher levels in the future? *shrug* Still tough as hell, but they're middle of the pack right now. Just kinda shows that we've all got out crap together this round. All teams are quite painful now. Enjoyment is being had by me. It'll be a tough league this time. Only team for taking a breather are the Aurochs now, it seems. When Mercs, Magics, and Shades are the bottom teams, you know there's trouble.
Trouble, trouble.
(Stupid Swifty music stuck in my head...apologies to all)
Ramblings about my own matches:
What's funny about my games personally is how my super duper strategy didn't pay off. I tried my CrashL formation against the JECHT formation because I figured my cross pattern would go right across Jecht as he moved to the center. And it did work...all but once, and besides that, Count's forward defense just butted heads with my strange defense. I thought it would work, but nay. Nay I say, nay!
But on the other hand, the Grizzlies' strategy DID work against TME. I went Relay because I noticed that most of TME's points are scored from up close, so I wanted a formation that held my defenders back and ignored possible shots from the center lines.
Anywho, I like all the new formations, though I'm already seeing signs of which ones are kinda pointless and which are threatening with OP-ness. We'll have to make the decision about banned formations before the tournament, but for now, I'm thinking we should just keep an eye on things.

Heh, OPness.
Bummer round for me, but there's still 6 to go.

Yeah, for the formations it looks like Crescent, while good on paper, isn't all that great, perhaps because the program limits how fast a particular player can travel in relation to other players. The Centre player may well be spending more time trying to reach their designated position than actually doing their jobs at the two locations.
JECHT is looking strong however, although the idea of using crash to cut through the Jecht formation's passing line was very clever, and as you say it did work pretty dang well. Jecht almost NEVER got the ball. I'm not sure if the Jecht formation is too good yet, or if it was just a bad matchup for the Mercs. The matchup was odd though, with Seifer and Snow, my two mid-fielders, having unusually high attack and block stats, with the intent of maintaining pressure on the front line. I'll try a matchup I expect to be close (which is most of them) using a NORMAL formation and some point and see how it holds up. Not next game though, Jecht's sitting out I believe. I'm actually quite scared of TME as I'm not sure how to best tackle them, strategy-wise. They're a bit of a wildcard.

Still need Wyvern's line-ups, but all other results are up for the moment! Wyvern: need the line-ups when you can. Everybody else: next round Saturday-ish, so line-ups before then.
SPOILERS BELOW:
Funny thing. I simmed Goers vs Mercs game, but I put them in the wrong order. Mercs won...barely. I think it was 4-5. Problem is, I like to always sim games in the right order, and I was like "crap, they're gonna lose this time." But nay! Nay I say! They beat them even harder, further proving the Goers aren't tough enough! Stupid Goers being all dumb.
Meanwhile, in the GW vs GB game, I'm happy to see a buzzer-beater that actually scored! Sazh got a buzzer beater right at the end of the game! Would've been more thrilling if GB weren't already ahead, but still, just by one. It was a close game. Even Tellah had to score to save this game! Tellah and a buzzer beater made the difference.
And poor MAG. I swear, one day they're gonna bust a move. But not yet, it seems. We shall see.

Sorry, Wyvern got me line-ups back on...Thursday? Friday? But I haven't had time to sim matches. But now, they are simmed! Get me line-ups...y'know. Soon. Might need to wait on a stamina report though, so just as soon as you can, basically.
