Genesis scoffs and quotes from the Loveless script. Nearby, Sephiroth rolls his eyes and walks away.
*OOC: Damn it, I said I didn't want to roleplay, and yet here I am! Okay... fine. A little bit of RPing is fine.

Results are up! Next match to be simmed maybe... Sunday-ish?
Spoilers Section:
Interesting results, I'd say. I dare say Fleck's strategy worked in the case of Loveless, but I'm not too sure. I'll bet Loveless is dying to get to that relief game in Round 5 against the Aurochs. Although, oddly enough, the Aurochs are far from last place. But then, there aren't many games yet.
The Mercs had one HELL of a play in the second half. When the Mercenaries scored their second point, I mean, look at that point. They owned the field right then. Mad Experiements did, too, right at the end of the game with that buzzer-beater at the end (doesn't SAY it was at the buzzer, but when the point's time IS 5:00 or beyond.
Count...not sure what's goin' on with your teams. That CA thing you mentioned must be doing you in. They still shoot very well, at least in SM7's case, but yeah, those goalies need some help. The Grizzlies are now second in the league for points and this is the first game they've scored a point! (they scored a few in the game against Loveless, but then we had the re-sim and they scored none)
And...damn. Those Goers. I've got 'em next round with the Grizzlies. Come onnnnn Grizzlies!

Commentary:
As you can see, I've decided to just put "Critical ___" when a player needs to move or rest. It's just simpler, and is a FF reference, so it's all good.
So the Goers are continuing their rampage through our teams. Not only are they undefeated, they've yet to score fewer than 5 goals. At this rate, they're on pace to have 45+ goals this season. CAN ANYONE STOP THIS JUGGERNAUT? Last season's best team, the Grizzly Bears, are next on the chopping block for the Goers, but the Bears have had a perfectly mediocre season so far, with one win, one loss, and one tie. Can they put a dent in the Goers' record and force at least a draw?
Meanwhile, the Mercs have pulled even with Nightshades, in wake of the Shades' draw with Loveless. When pulled aside for an interview, Genesis is quoted as saying that "a draw is a win" against the Shades. He seems content to spit in Nightshades' eye and blemish their perfect record.
SM7 continue to struggle defensively, giving up 8 goals against the Grizzlies, which is the most any non-Goer team has been able to score this season. Jecht could not be reached for comment.
And meanwhile, the Guests were unable to eke out a win, even against the team that's supposed to be a guaranteed win, the Aurochs. Wakka is quoted as saying some enthusiastic praise for his team, but our team was unable to understand anything he said. The Guests are sadly disappointed however, as they expected 4 goals to be enough to force a victory in this exceptionally low-scoring season. Larsa blames his brother, even though Vayne isn't playing this season.
Next week, Grizzlies battle Goers, the two teams that could only draw against Aurochs--Missiles and Guests--face each other, both looking for their first wins of the season. Shades battles SM7, while Loveless takes on the Mercs. Also The Mad Experiments get their chance at the Aurochs.

Line-ups, guys! Got two games up, but that's all I can sim right now. And lemme tell you, one of those was the most boring match on the face of this planet. I REALLY need a crowd explode function. I'm thinking that I might make the game somehow spread the players out if say, the ball doesn't leave an immediate area in a certain amount of time. Might be a tough function, but it'll help to quell all those 5 on 5 situations like this game had (and we all know which game THAT was).

Sorry, haven't been consistently available this week... might have some issues with this upcoming week, too... I'll try to get my line-ups in tonight.

I might, too, actually. If people get line-ups in by Thursday, then I'll sim any/all matches I can, but I'm gone Friday through Monday, so we'll have a hiccup in the schedule anyway. Hope all's okay, Gabe. I saw hints on Facebook that you might be going through rough times, but it's speculation. But if so, I wish you the best in getting through them. And if you're just busy, well, hope you get through that, too EDIT: Results are now simmed! Spoilers below. First, Count, I think we're probably all moving toward some way of regulating the Super Goalie because I doubt you did anything too crazy with your teams, yet they've gone from SM7 being leaders and MAG being middle of the pack, to both picking up the rear. Seeing the NS blowout on SM7, I know for sure that's because of a goalie. We'll fix that next season. That said, it's nice to see NS with some points finally. Yesterday I noticed how NS was our league leader (aside from the cheater-Goers), and yet they only had two goals. TWO. They had two 1-0 victories and a tie. Somehow that was the best in our league? But now, with the nine goals against SM7, they seem more threatening, especially since they did so sans Illua. Granted, it looked like Count pulled a few of his best off the field, too. At least I'm proud of da Bears. They lost to the Goers, but 3-1 is the best loss yet against them! Yay!

Damn, I'm not doing well XD
I think my teams are perhaps proof of how damn good the super goalie package is. Both my goalies have gotten all points in 1 CA things like tackle slip, but none of SM7's goalie has 0 super goalie packages, and MAG's goalie has only 2.
SM7, without any super goalie, has lost by an enourmous amount in all games except the one against Loveless, which may be bad data for gathering this information due to their highly defensive nature. Magic Missiles, with their 2 Super Goalies (but presumably less of this package than most, if not all other goalies in the league), lost all their games, except against the Aurochs whom they only managed a draw against.
While only my two teams don't present enough data at this stage to determine if something's a bit off with the balance, I think it does suggest certain trends, especially when you consider that both my teams have what I think is pretty solid block/attack scores (averaging 19-20 in each among my defense players for both teams, and only marginally less for my centers). I'm not sure if this means that it's too easy to get high shot or endurance scores compared to these two defensive stats, or if it's just a bad idea to have more well-rounded players as opposed to specialists, or if Super Goalie's too good. What are peoples' thoughts?

Just read your last post. If thing's DO end up needing to regular super goalie, is that necessarily a good idea? I know at this stage it's been integrated into most players in the game, but even if you enforce harsher limits on how many SG level ups can be taken, it's still a must-have package for goalies, who would need to take as many as possible at any given level to compare.
It might be more balanced to do something along the lines of giving a bonus point in CA for X amount of levels in a particular package. For example, packages such as Elite Defense and Brawler, which provide good stats in the block/attack defense stats, would offer bonus CA at a lower frequency, say 1 CA for every 4 levels in one of these packages. On the other hand, something like Super Goalie (offering a default CA of 1) and Keepa would offer bonus CA every 2 levels, but be lacking in other stats compared to other packages that offer a CA bonus. These two packages would probably need to have about 2 extra stats in them to make them not suck compared to things like Elite Defense in this instance, but it would be a good way to have a package that distinctly offers extra CA without it being the necessity it is currently. Tackle Slip and Grip Gloves, which are kinda half-defense, could maybe offer a bonus CA every 3 levels or so.
Also, I think it might be cool if the all-rounder package had solid bonus CA rate (maybe levels/2.5 rounded down, so after 3, 5, 8, 10 etc ranks), since I suspect that all-rounder isn't a great package in most cases, since specialists tend to perform better in general.
Another bonus of this is that it would reduce the difference between dedicated Super Goalies, and the other players on your team. A dedicated Super Goalie would still be superior under a system like this and would be necessary for more difficult matches, but on the rare time that you need to swap in maybe a defense player to give your goalie a rest, you won't be completely boned because they have 8 or more less CA than your main goalie. If they were high in packages like grip gloves, then your stand-in would have enough CA from the bonuses offered to not be almost pointless in goal, and would also mean that you could perhaps have more leeway in terms of your reserves.

Bob, thanks for your encouraging words; it's a combination of a number of things: a few days ago, my 19yo step-cousin killed himself, which is a fair bit distressing; Brittany and I were visiting a friend in VT this weekend and went to see Andrew McMahon (of Jack's Mannequin/Something Corporate) in concert last night (and had a three hour, 41 minute drive back afterwords!); and we're flying to Austin on Friday to look into possibly moving there... so just a total whammy of things going on... It's a little stressing, but mostly mentally at the moment. Things just tend to pop up all at once, you know? Anyway, thanks for your concern.
I should have a few minutes between now and packing to get my lineups for the next round in by Wednesday or Thursday, so no worries there. I too, was happy to see NS get some points on the board, but I also do this there needs to be some sensible re-evaluation of the goalie packages before the next tournament. Would love to see SM7 or MM enter the tourney as total underdogs and make it to the finals or semis.
Anyway, all for now... Blitz on!

I like the frequency bonus idea, Count! I don't know how tough it would be to calculate that, but I imagine Bob could do it!

I like the frequency bonus idea, Count! I don't know how tough it would be to calculate that, but I imagine Bob could do it! It would probably be pretty easy, using modulus. And Bob is a far more skilled programmer than I!

Cool, I don't really know what's hard and what's not (it usually ends up being the reverse of what I expect!)
And thank you. I know my step-family is having a much harder time of it than I am, as I didn't know him quite so well, but it's still tough at points.

Commentary: Okay, right off the bat, I hope you all notice that Rydia comes up, not as "Critical" but as "Error." Count, ya done screwed it all up, and now we can never play blitz again. I hope you're happy! At first I thought I'd screwed up the stamina numbers, but it all checks out.
Game 1, Rydia played forward and lost 3 stamina (down to 7 stamina). Game 2 she played forward again and lost another 3 (4 stamina). Game 3 she was moved to center and lost 2 stamina (2 stamina). But then you moved her back into a forward position, and she didn't have enough stamina to play that game. This would be considered, in my opinion, an unfair advantage, since you got to keep a player on the field for more games than allowed. But since Guests won the game, I'm fine with letting the result stand. However, Rydia MUST rest this round. I'll bump her back up to 10 stamina after she rests, but you gotta keep an eye out for that, Count. Rydia wasn't in critical status last round, but that's only because she was in the center position, a lower stamina position. The "Critical" status doesn't take into account higher-stamina positions like forwards.
