If anybody else wants to join this tournament, send results TODAY. I'm going to sim the first round of matches either tonight or tomorrow morning, so I need all data asap.
I currently have: Fleck Count Bob (thaaaat's me!) Wyvern
Wyvern, I assume you're interested, but I don't have your playerdata. Juice submitted a list of teams, but likewise, I have no playerdata, so I can't create your teams. Either PM them or submit them here, please! Otherwise it'll be a six-team tournament.

Okay, cool. I don't think we'll need a special team since we already have 8 teams (good number for a tourney) or 10 if AJ plays, which is not too bad. 11 would be awkward.

Sorry for the wait, guys! I guess I was on the wrong page. The old blitz page. This whole time. And I kept not seeing this one. This whole... time. ._. Sorry. ALSO! I haven't run that .exe of yours. Mostly because it's a .exe and I can't. BUT! I'm also wondering exactly how the stats work with those posts. I looked through the forum and didn't really see an explanation. Or maybe I missed it 'cause it's 0200 and I'm tired and should have been in bed two hours ago... Hm.. <_< >_> I blame somebody who isn't me. Willie. I blame Willie.
SO! Sorry I haven't exactly posted my team yet. After work today I'll try to find my old file from the stats I had for my team. At the packages all working the same way? 10 stats? If nothing has changed since the excel file team sheet thing, then I'll have that save on my computer somewhere. Actually, here's an old PM I sent to Fleck a long-ass time ago:
On my monster team, World Class Creatures, there is:
Name POSITION END/PASS/SHOT/ATTACK/BLOCK/CATCH
Umaro LF 16 / 1 / 13 / 22 / 8 / 6 Chupon C 20 / 5 / 12 / 18 / 5 / 6 Stilkzkin RF 13 / 10 / 18 / 7 / 12 / 6 Red Xiii LD 4 / 11 / 1 / 18 / 21 / 11 Quina RD 21 / 16 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 11 Ultros G 3 / 15 / 3 / 11 / 23 / 11
Reserves: Boko 15 / 16 / 15 / 9 / 6 / 5 Cait-Sith 12 / 12 / 16 / 12 / 8 / 6
OH well it just occurred that perhaps you may need the packages I chose. Just to be safe, here they are: Umaro: 5 Brawl, 3 Jecht, 2 Volley Chupon: 2 TCK SLP, 3 Brawl, 4 Jecht, 1 Volley Stilkzkin: 1 Grip, 1 Gold, 1 Jecht, 3 volley, 4 All-Round Red Xiii: 3 Grip, 4 Elite, 3 Brawl Quina: 5 TCK SLP, 5 All-Round Ultros: 4 Grip, 4 Elite, 2 All-Round Boko: 2 TCK SLP, 3 Gold, 3 Jecht, 2 All-Round Cait-Sith: 2 Gold, 3 Jecht, 5 All-Round
Hmmm now that I'm done typing that out, I think I need to figure a different way to type out the next team.... Perhaps I will put fewer spaces between the stats. Anyway, to be honest I still haven't decided on a team name. NO WAIT! I JUST thought of an idea. Perhaps not a good one, but it'll do. Team name: "STRAW!"
Name/Position/END,PASS,SHOT,ATTACK,BLOCK,CATCH/packages Steiner / LF / 6, 20, 16, 6, 14, 4 / 2 grip, 1 brawl, 5 gold, 1 jecht, 1 volley Beatrix / RF / 23, 5, 21, 9, 5, 3 / 2 tck slp, 4 jecht, 4 volley. Fang / C / 11, 9, 15, 15, 11, 5 / 2 elite, 2 brawl, 2 gold, 2 jecht, 2 volley Celes / LD / 12, 13, 15, 9, 12, 15 / 1 tck slp, 1 grip, 2 elite, 2 gold, 2 jecht, 2 volley Freya / RD / 17, 9, 7, 14, 10, 9 / 3 tck sllp, 2 elite, 3 brawl, 2 volley Bikke / G / 8, 15, 2, 12, 18, 11 / 2 tck slp, 2 grip, 5 elite, 1 all round.
Reserves: Barbariccia / 17, 1, 16, 19, 8, 5 / 4 brawl, 3 Jecht, 3 volley Gau / 14, 9, 11, 13, 11, 8 / 1 tck slp, 1 grip, 1 elite, 1 brawl, 2 jecht, 1 volley, 3 all-round.
I know that's not how you guys are setting up teams, BUT if it's all the same then I can totally go through and fix it, but if it's NOTHING like that now, then I'll need to do me some LEARNIN'!
I'm sorry I'm so far behind, everyone. It's been a... erm... well a couple of... months....
ANYWHOS, yeah sorry. I'm here! If it helps, I love you all ^_^ <3

Hey Juice! The rules for new Blitzball are here, courtesy of Bob: goatpen.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=blitz&action=display&thread=468It also features a download for a lovely excel file that calculates everything for you at the end of the first post, including the input code for the program that you can just copy/paste. It's like the one I made for the Arena program way back when, BUT EVEN BETTER! So be sure to give it a go! Things you asked about in a nutshell though: The low/normal/high is the player's risk stat. Normal risk is how we've always played it or thereabouts, high risk means the person is more likely to make a risky play against the odds, and low risk means that they'll almost never make a play unless the odds are in their favour. High risk has more opportunities for success, but low risk is definitely a safer option in most cases. If both the enemy teams' defenders are top-notch and both your strikers are low-risk, it may be that they never take a shot, so be careful. Also, we're able to choose formations now. There are HTML links with pictures describing them on the how to play thread I linked, so feel free to give them a look over. Apparently 'Wide' is a bad idea in most cases though, just so ya know

Thanks! I'm just about to head to work, but I'll study it and fix up my teams a bit when I get home, then post either tonight or tomorrow!
Ciao for now and hugs and kisses and all that stuff.

I take half of that praise (the other half goes to Wyvern). So thanks!
I'll adjust your stats in the program. I did them manually before, but didn't have any of the risk levels involved yet. Those'll go in for the next match.

A letter from Ultros to all the other teams:
"Be warned, you foolish... fools! My team is coming after you, and we will be bringing with us... NIGHTMARES! In the form of us slaughtering you. Metaphorically. In the arena. We we play Blitzball. Against your team. BE WARNED!
-The Great Ultros"

Just a comment about how I was showing the blitz program off to a student. He's going to college next year to do programming, so he's all excited about learning C++. He thought my program was badass. Hooray for being nerdily badass!
In other news, let's start a league, ya'll! Shoot for starting maybe next weekend, just to give people time to get their stats together? Let's say next weekend. Yes. Next weekend.
You can post in the new thread which teams you'd like to enter. I think I can fairly safely assume that all teams in the demo tournament will be entered, but comment there anyway, that way I have an accurate count. Then, PM me the team stats and player data in case any changes were made. I promise to not cheat. I will only glance at players to make sure everybody is conforming to the Unique Character Rule (no two characters with exact same build).
I'll have the team brackets decided Saturday morning and I'll hopefully sim the first round on Sunday. Once the brackets are decided, we'll need to make sure you all submit team line-ups before each match. If ever you do not submit a line-up on time, I will use the default line-up (123456) and if Stamina does not allow a certain player to play that position, he/she will be automatically benched and replaced by the first benchwarmer. I'll make that new thread now, so hop over there and prepare to send me a PM this week!

Bob asked for comments in the League 3 thread, so HE SHALL HAVE COMMENTS!
I was going to have a lot more to say about this season, but in light of the code fiasco, I have less to say, really.
For one, I am going to continue to advocate that Season 4 be a do-over season. One, because of the glitch, and two because we had so many new concepts added in Season 3 that I think it would be a mistake to add more right away. I expect Season 4 to be drastically different from Season 3, even without any new additions.
I think we should add a few more levels to the Goers, in addition to however many levels we were planning on giving them. As our teams level up, a two or three level advantage means less and less. I still want to keep the Goers as the potentially toughest team in the league. Hell, even the Aurochs could stand a boost too.
Also, Bob briefly touched on the idea of modifying our tournament brackets to make them double-elimination. I'm still working out my opinion on that subject. I think I'm for it, because honestly, our tournaments are really anti-climactic. We started our most recent tourney and then a couple of days later Mercs won. Seems almost boring, really.
While I'm on that subject, I'm thinking about ideas to make League and Tournament wins actually mean something. Like, providing actual bonuses. Obviously I'm not going to do anything so drastic as giving level up bonuses or anything, but there's one idea that I'm starting to like. What if the winner of the League is guaranteed not to play himself until the third round of the tourney? Basically, the person who finishes #1 automatically has their second team in the opposite bracket, regardless of that team's finish. I think that's an incentive worth playing for, while at the same time it doesn't guarantee that that person is going to win it all (LO and GW were in opposite brackets, and didn't win). Seeding doesn't seem to have much of a factor in our tournaments, so I'm okay with fudging the numbers a bit like that.
I haven't yet thought of a good incentive for winning the tournaments though. Since the league is so much longer, offering a bonus going into next season would be tricky.
Anyway. Those be my thoughts.

Yeah, I rush tournaments, probably a bit too much. I think double-elimination could be more fun, I just like the tournaments to be quick so that if somebody is eliminated in the first round, they aren't bored. I'm thinking teams will get 5 more levels as usual, but Goers will get 6 to help them stand out a bit. They're already 2 ahead, so now they'll be 3 ahead. I think Aurochs will stay where they're at, but I might toss Wakka an extra level, just cuz. I'm okay with nothing new happening this league though. My only idea right now is mixing and matching formations for offense and defense. For instance, picking one formation for while your team is on defense, then a different one for offense. It'd introduce some fun new combinations, I think, especially those left and right formations that lack so much on defense as-is. I think it'd be easy to implement, but I agree with Fleck that we should keep this one as the do-over league and not touch things. If people like the idea for mixing OFF and DEF though, then let me know and I'll prep that for League #5 (since that league will probably start fairly close to baby due date, so I sure as hell won't be programming much at that point ).
