And it only took 20 years! Wonder when it'll be done and how much they'll modify? This could be absolutely amazing, but I'm too pessimistic to believe it'll be done soon or correctly. Sorry, I'm 90% pessimist.
But if everything goes right, then WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It'll be nice to be able to talk to my students about it without them saying "Isn't that the game with Squall?" or "I never played it because the graphics are so bad."

Of course it took 20 years; they had to hit that sweet spot between "still well-loved", "nostalgia", and "has money will spend it". They've kept our appetites whetted with sequels and movies and all sorts of other stuff; the time was ripe to strike, and I'm the sucker who'll buy a PS4 just to play this game.
Besides, think of all of the delicious cries of newbies who bother investing time and energy into Aeris.

I am super ultra excited, but the trailer has that pseudo-intellectual prose poetry stuff that Square-Enix has been doing for years now, which makes me nervous. Hopefully it's just part of the trailer and not indicative of any changes they'll be making to the game itself. Cloud is emo enough without him busting into 10 minute long soliloquys about his fragmented tortured soul and the meaning of life and whatever.
Otherwise, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

it sounded more to me like "we're finally actually gonna do it after all these years" instead of anything pertaining to actual game content, so I think we're safe. But if they retcon out Tifa and Aeris threatening Don Corneo with castration, I'm not going to be impressed.
Oh, pardon, Aerith.

Awesome. Good to know good graphics won't ruin it...hopefully.

I'm definitely very excited. There's certain things that have always been on my wish list. One would certainly be an enhanced Gold Saucer with new minigames, improvements to the old ones, and hopefully that Midnight Express ride that's teased on the ticker. I'd prefer a combat system that incorporates modern thoughts in gaming but still evokes the feel of the old one. And a script that makes certain improvements, but still retains some of the old one and keeps certain of the quirky charm that made the original so enjoyable. For example, somebody pointed out that they have trouble connecting the Cloud we've come to know through the various FFVII spinoff projects with the one who was willing to say stuff like "But when I was in Shinra, we spent a lot of time riding around in trucks. That sucked." But in any case, I'm cautiously optimistic and while I don't have a PS4 right now, I will definitely be playing when this comes out.
