Sidebar: Anyone else here appreciate how badass Edea is?
Main point: Glad to hear things aren't as terrifying as they were a short while ago! That was hard to read (not because I took my glasses off to take and shower and then got distracted by this, but because of empathy), I can't imagine having to hear that from your doctors! Jeez. Any characters who seem like they have a really rough chance of things and make it through? Wait, that's like 90% of VG characters, isn't it?
Also, that Elena vs. Ellie thing is weird. I think of nicknames as 'bonus' names. Most of the nicknames I give to friends, children, etc. are just as long as their original names, so maybe I'm thinking about things a bit differently than most? I don't know, all I know is to me it just reflects the multiple facets of personality that each person has. Like there are certain people I want specifically to call me Gabriel, but it would be really weird to hear it from others... the ones I'm in 'Gabe' mode with.

Heh, in a similar fashion, I use the "Robert Test" to determine who are really my friends. If, after I introduce myself to you as Bob, you are still calling me Robert because that's what my nametag, paycheck, etc. says, then you must not be my friend. It isn't a harsh thing, it isn't a terrible thing to not be my friend, but we obviously do not talk much if you still call me "Robert." There's a teacher in my department that has been there since before I got here (and that's 4 full years, starting my 5th year...umm...tomorrow--I should probably not be on here right now), who after I reply to an e-mail WHICH I SIGNED "-Bob" would still say "Thanks Robert!" Umm, okay, so you really don't know me. Got it.
But yeah, the nickname thing also comes with another thing: a weird internet statistic that says people with one-syllable names are more successful. Name is easier to remember and somehow that means they get more money. *shrug* So we are now thinking of one syllable girl names, which are Pam. There are not many short girl names that we like, but we keep looking anyway. One that I like that is one syllable: Claire. Ohh, also! Names that can be spelled multiple ways! Claire or Clair? She'll be spelling her name all the time! This comes from a guy who had a speech impediment that made it hard to spell his last name and a gal whose name can be spelled with a "Ch" or a "K." So...yeah, we're crazy. Crazy does not help things.
Speaking of crazy, I have billions of things to prep before tomorrow, so I'll cut off here.
....SHE ALSO VETOED LEIA!
And yes, Edea is awesome.
OKAY I'M CUTTING OFF HERE! OVER AND OUT!

I'm happy to call you to call you Bob, Bob. And, yeah, Edea is great.
Yeah, I know it's been a while. I sort of fell out of the habit of visiting here again since there was so little happening. Not much exciting happening with me at the moment. Glad to hear of the announcement of Fallen Stars. Also, congrats on your upcoming daughter, Bob! A female name from the Final Fantasy series that wouldn't be too weird or exotic? Well, there's always Sarah, or Serah if you want be just a little on the exotic side. Or, ofc course, Claire (Lightning.) Celes is pretty neat too, and how about Beatrix?

Oh, I've been playing Lightning Returns. I'm only a few days in (game clock), but I feel like I've already got a lot done. It's been fun catching up with all of the Final Fantasy XIII characters, as well as familiar faces from Final Fantasy XIII-2 as well, and I'm interested to see how it all ends.

Hey, guys! I was on TV today. Indirectly. Nearly indistinguishably. For like, 1.3 seconds. But still! So the Republican Presidential Debate was held today in Milwaukee at the Milwaukee Theater, which just so happens to be about two blocks from where I work. One of my employees, Evan, was going to attend a protest that evening and he invited me along. I had nothing better to do, so I figured why not. I'm not super well-versed in politics, but I know enough to leap at the opportunity to stand around and shout "DUMP TRUMP" repeatedly. Anyway, a description of my night... I showed up around 5:30. News cameras were EVERYWHERE, and one whole city block was devoted to news trucks that each had satellite dishes on them that could be used as Godzilla's contact lenses. One lonely corner had about a dozen or so Pro-Life ralliers holding signs with pictures of dead babies and stuff. I didn't know where Evan was (we hadn't exchanged phone numbers so I couldn't contact him), but I knew he wouldn't be in that crowd. I wandered around for a bit, weaving between news crews setting themselves up and lines of police officers. I eventually saw a group of maybe two dozen people marching down the street under a Che Guevara flag. I said to myself, "Yeah, that's his crowd," and although I didn't see Evan in the group, I followed along with the marchers. They did eventually join up with a second group where I met Evan and then we kept marching for a bit with people holding microphones chanting typical protest things like, "Up, up with education! Down, down with deportation!" and stuff like that. It was a pretty eclectic group made of a lot of different littler protests like anti-war, anti-Republican, pro-choice, and strangely, Palestinian Liberation people. So mixed in with chants of "Bigots go home! Bigots go home!" were chants of "Free! Free! Palestine!" and some chant in Arabic that, no matter how many times it was repeated, I could not discern. We eventually circled around to our starting point and our rally joined up with a larger, more prominent rally that had been marching on city hall and protesting for a $15 minimum wage and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. It ended up being a fuckload of people between all of us and it got pretty awesome. We got into a screaming fight with the pro-life ralliers and the anti-immigration douchebags. Some asshole with a vendetta started wandering through our rally shouting, "If you don't like America, go home!" and a fight nearly broke out and you could see the police getting antsy. Nothing happened though. At one point we had a "die in" where one of the people holding a microphone listed off various things we were protesting while a bunch of us lied down and pretended to be dead. I was right on the edge of the die-in and I couldn't decide if I should stand up or lay down, so I said, "Fuck it," and I stretched out on the road. It was cold as fuck. It's only about 40 degrees in Milwaukee today and the streets are like ice and we had to lay there for 5-10 minutes. BUT! Laying down on a road gave me a brief glimpse of fame! Fox 6 News reported on the rally (mostly focusing on the Workers' Rights and Black Lives Matter rally, not ours), but I am EVER SO SLIGHTLY visible during the die-in. That's me in the blue outline. Anyway, after a while and after some protest leaders from Milwaukee and Chicago made some speeches, we had another, larger march that took us around past the Milwaukee Theater. People attending the debates stood at the windows and watched us march past, giving us thumbs down and sneering and occasionally people would shout stuff at us from the sidewalks. Me, Evan, and his girlfriend all thought it was funny so we waved like we were in a parade and shouted our slogans at them. We ended up under the Wisconsin Center, which has this overhanging section that goes over a city block. This created an echo effect which was really cool, so we all started shouting and beating on makeshift drums and it was loud as hell and really awesome. A ring of police officers surrounded us the whole time. Then the rally returned to its starting point, more speeches and chanting happened, and then we all went home. All in all, it was a lot of fun and I recommend it to anyone who gets a chance to do something like it. Here's Fox 6's report on the rally: fox6now.com/2015/11/10/groups-organizing-protests-against-gop-milwaukee-debate-join-dontre-hamilton-family-for-march/Fox 6 takes special care to note that a flag was burned during the rally, but I want to point out that it was just one douchebag and we didn't notice or condone his behavior. He wasn't part of the rest of our rally. He just stood off to the side trying to set a flag on fire but it wouldn't catch. Eventually he gave up and the police took the flag away. It was really more pathetic than anything else.

That's awesome! And though I can barely see you, you look like a pretty comfortable dead body. I just never thought so many different rallies could happen all in one place. Sounds like an interesting night.

I was pretty comfortable. I mostly just laid there and stared up at the sky. I couldn't really hear anything when I was on the ground, so mostly I just kept a lookout to make sure no one stepped on me.
And yeah, there were quite a lot of different issues being protested at once, each with their own slogans and signs. The whole thing was kind of disorganized and chaotic and I really don't think it meant anything or accomplished anything, but it was fun. Like going to a concert or something.

I feel a change in the air; I sense... Another Bergman has descended into the world; I feel... Stirrings of a great congratulatory nature being directed in a westerly fashion, to both mother and father. 'Tis a most momentous occasion, this, one worth saying, "HOLYCRAP,NEWBABYFORTHENEW YEAR,GOODJOBYOUTWO!BESTOFLUCK!"

You can sense our combined power levels! Yep, we have a Player 4! April has joined our ranks. Tooootally not named after a TMNT character. Toootally not. We're keeping other info off the semi-public internetz, so if you want her middle name, you can pm me. But I WILL say it's from a game, but not FF.
