I asked in a roundabout way, too, so we're dicks together, which is also the name of Fleck's sex tape.
...Okay, so maybe we all had a few/several scenes in that sex tape.
Dicks Together. A coming together story. Literally.

Curve Blocks View: A Book by Gabriel Cleveland
This is a GoFundMe for the aforementioned book of poetry I'm putting together, namely, to raise money to cover submission fees. I have until the end of Tuesday night to finish revising the poems, but I've got everything in order and a battle plan, so I'm really excited! If you know anyone else who is into this kinda stuff, please pass it on. Every dollar helps.

Dean reached his first major benchmark today. He said "chocobo." Sounds more like chuck-bo, but still! Chocobo! Walking? Psh. Talking? Psh psh! Saying a word from a video game? Woo!

Yes, well, he SAID "chocobo," but can he breed a Gold Chocobo? Has he found all the Chocographs? Does he have a final time of 0.0 seconds in the race in the Calm Lands?
No? Psh! Waste not my time with your pitiful benchmarks!

You'll see! He'll have all of that AND the Japanese only chicobo minigame from FF8! He will be superior!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
Congrats! I'm kind of inclined to suggest that you use two names from shows/games you like just to keep the pattern, but a lot of girl names in FF would be weird for a real person to have and what could ever top Dean Auron? I mean, I guess it could work if you do some digging...
Anyway, CONGRATS AGAIN!

Thanks! Yeah, we're pumped. Coming late December! Dean is beginning of the month, she'll be end of the month (presumably), and with Christmas right in there, I might as well change the name of the month to "Decembroke."
But yeah, Kristy and I are having a really tough time with names. I still like the idea of show/game names, but so many of the girl names are either too weird (Samus, Selphie, Penelo, etc.) or too exotic/non-white (Aya, Yuna, etc.). But we'll figure it out someday!

I've been thinking about possible places you can get names from, and I figured Buffy would be a good place, but all the names from Buffy are weird too. Except for Dawn's. I dunno if you want to have a Dean and a Dawn in the same family, but I figured I'd make the suggestion if you haven't already thought of it.

Yup, thought of it, but all ideas appreciated. I like Anya, but Kristy says it's too weird. Sad face...but she might be right...

Holy shit! How'd I miss this!? Congratulations, you three! That's pretty damn exciting! Maybe we should move over your way and just be your babysitters (yeah, we're at that point ). Good luck! As for FFnames, there's a couple that are okay, but probably just on the other side of the line: Rinoa, Rydia, Terra, Freya, Alma, Celes (nope, wait, no one can pronounce that!). My vote though, in terms of a female from FF as badass as Auron: Edea. If it turns out that the middle name is the vg one though, you've got a little more freedom anyway. Pokemon's got oodles of female names. Not that it's your favorite series by any means, but if you're lookin'.

Thanks! Babysitters WOULD be cool, but we can't afford sitters! I have gone through pretty much all the FF names. I like Rydia, but wife vetoed. Didn't consider Alma. I mentioned Elma the other day (we both seem to like names that start with either a or e and have l's involved) kiiiind of as a joke because Dean loves Elmo (it was his first two-syllable word way back when he was barely talking and it was totally out of the blue because he doesn't watch Sesame Street), but we both "hmm"ed it. I think it's a no, but maybe Alma... hmmmmmm. HMMMMM! You know, picking out what somebody will be called their entire lives is a BIT tough, it turns out. We both really agreed quickly on Dean's name, but I think we have fundamental differences on girl names. There IS overlap, but nobody wants to give! And for making it nerdy, here are SOME of the things we've been through for names: EVERY Final Fantasy, Buffy, Angel, Firefly, "Nintendo" (which included a lot of female Pokemon names, including something like "sharp-eared Pichu," which Kristy vetoed for some strange reason...Sharp-Eared Pichu Bergman! Perfect!), Silent Hill, Resident Evil (not every single SH or RE though...might need to revisit!), Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter (I kind of like Cammy as a name, but as a character...eh...), Tekken, street signs on a drive to Southern California, I mean, seriously, a lot. We like Alyssa and it might end up being that, but we're second guessing. That was our girl name before we knew Dean would be a boy. We'll see if it sticks. It fits our thing though. Is it a normal name? Yup. Is it a video game name? Yup (Clocktower 3--"Alyssa where are you!?"). But we're unsure. Kristy is ruining everything. She doesn't like nicknames. She hates when kids are named something like "Robert," but then their parents raise them as "Bobby" or "Bob" and never even use Robert. Why not just call the kid "Bob?" she says. And while I can't exactly disagree with her, I kind of like having two names. Although, I don't think of myself as having a nickname. I have a FORMAL name. My NAME is Bob, but my FORMAL name is Robert. *nod* But yeah, it is messing things up. Like, one name I like is Elena. She doesn't because apparently the main character in Vampire Diaries is Elena and she is "the worst." I don't watch it, so *shrug*. BUT! She likes the name Ellie. Now, come on. Elena vs Ellie. Come on! If she's Elena, then her NICKNAME can be Ellie, but noooooo. Nicknames are the worst, apparently! Anyhow, that's just a sample of how picky we are being and the tiny wars we're having. But right now, we're really super happy. Not just because we found out it was a girl, but part of the reason I didn't post all this up a couple weeks ago when we learned that it was a girl is because the ultrasound saw 3 holes in her heart, which is damn scary. They're talking to us about heart surgery for our baby when it is born and heart failure stuff. And for doctors, they sure use the T-word a lot ("we just want to know your plans with this baby--do you plan to keep it or terminate it?"). Seriously, I think in the past couple weeks, the word "terminate" was used about 10 times by about 5 different doctors/doctor-like-people. Hearing medical professionals ask if you're considering aborting it is VERY hard. It also comes with the scare factor because they say that holes in the heart is a possible marker for Down's Syndrome. So...yeah. It's been a really happy last couple weeks. But (note I said "we're really super happy") we drove out to SF to see a specialist (pediatric cardiologist) and she told us that she doesn't see 3 holes. She said she might MAYBE see one tiny one, but it shouldn't amount to much more than a heart murmur and might even close itself. So woo! And TODAY we got back genetic blood tests and was given something like 1/10,000 odds for Down's (same odds any healthy baby has, but it means essentially no chance). By the way, if you think Down's is bad, check out Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18. Genetic disorders will scare the SHIT out of you, if you are having a kid. One of them, 13 or 18, is that you have an extra chromosome 13 or chromosome 18 and long story short, one of those means your baby will live to be about 1 before dying (but never mentally develop beyond one month) and the other is a baby that will live for ONE FUCKING HOUR. So when you hear your baby has a potential marker for those, even though the odds are still like 1/250 (less than 1%), it still just ruins your week! Ugh! But we are glad to know things are going very, very well now. Stupid doctors scaring us (especially the doctor that said babies with holes in the heart have a 1 in 2 chance for Down's, which is backwards! 1 in 2 babies with Down's had a hole in the heart! That's one hell of a gaffe, doc!). But now all is good. Baby is on a normal path, just might have a teeny hole that shouldn't even be a health risk. Woo baby girl, who will have the best name ever (once we come up with it...)! Also: evidence that you're old: you and the people on your forum who used to talk about video games and make penis jokes are talking about baby names. *sigh* We're old, fellas.
