So, as we all know, the various Final Fantasy games all have some very iconic and chilling scenes, or maybe chilling isn't quite the right word, but I think you all know what I'm talking about. So what's your favorite out of them all?
For me, it's a pretty tough choice, there's a lot of scenes I really love that give me goosebumps, some examples being when Zidane confronts Garland in Pandemonia, when Squall rescues Rinoa from either the sorceress memorial or space, when Aerith is killed, etc.
However, probably my favorite one, is the scene in Home where Tidus discovers that Yuna would die if she calls the final summoning. When I first played the game, I was surprised but it wasn't all that remarkable a scene to me. But, over the years, as I've grown older, with every fresh play through of the game the scene is more and more chilling to me.
Knowing what's gonna happen is probably a part of it, as well as the fact that I've probably grown attached to the characters over the years, but I dunno. When Tidus is so frantically searching for her in Home, and the pieces start coming together, when everyone just stands there speechless, unable to look him in the eye when he declares that the summoners would be safe if guardians did their jobs. When they enter the sanctum, and Pacce just runs up to Tidus and asks what "sacrificed" was. And Rikku blurts it out and that fucking song starts playing. Waterworks man, waterworks...

For me, it's when Tellah dies. He summons Meteo finally and then the song from Titanic starts playing and I just lose it. I'm like, "The boats are coming, Tellah!" And then he slips into the ocean forever.
Near.
Far.
Wherever he are.
...I have a real answer, I just can't think of it. I know there's a scene that does give me chills/goosebumps every time, but right now I can't think what it is. It's likely from FF7-10 though since nothing else has really been terribly eventful.

There's been more activity here on the forums in the past 24 hours than there has been in the past month. Not that I'm complaining.
For me it's probably the penultimate scene before the credits, after Sin is defeated but before Yuna gives her final speech. The scene always seemed kinda hammy when I played it the first few times, but I've come to start to see it from a different perspective. The real tragedy in FF10, I think, is that Yuna grew up expecting to sacrifice herself. She trained and meditated and did everything she could to grow up to be a summoner. She was mentally prepared to give her life to buy a few years of peace for the world. But then you get to the end, her view of reality is shattered, her religion is proven false, and then as a final F-You from the universe, Yuna loses both her identity as a summoner (even having to destroy her own summons), and then loses her love. She goes on this journey and loses everything BUT her life.
That's Yuna in the corner.
That's Yuna in the spot... light
Losing her religion/love/identity/place in the world.
Yeah, Bob. I CAN QUOTE SONGS TOO!

But you picked a GOOD song. That's cheating!

Yeah I definitely have to appreciate the ending of X for all those reasons as well, unfortunately I rarely play X to the ending anymore, so it's not as fresh in my mind. I always end up doing all the monster capturing in Sin and mastering the sphere grid and what not, and then gradually fade out before actually beating the game. Otherwise, I just beat it the first time I get through Sin and once those credits roll I'm done, and don't do all the extra stuff I was gonna do.

For me, it's the bit in FF9 when Zidane breaks down, and is all like 'fuck you, world' and then he's okay 5 minutes later. But those 5 minutes are some awesome shit!
Uh.. uhhhh..
I walk a lonely road, and I'm the only one and I walk alone
hmm, no...
I worked so hard and got so farr!
...no, not that either. Crap, finding a song is hard!

Hmm... how about...
Lean on Vivi
When you're not strong
And Steiner will be your friend
He'll help you caaaaarrrry on
For it won't be long
Till Garnet's gonna need
Somebody to leeeeeaaann on.
I think I can do better, but that's all that's coming to me right now.

Dang, I can't think of friggin anything that really was terribly chillsy. Maybe the Yuna will die moment, but I hated the long slo-mo. It was too much slo and not enough mo. The Aeris death scene gave me chills eventually, but the first time it happened I was spoiled (stupid internet) and after playing the game about eight times, I'm pretty numb to it. "Hurry up, Sephiroth. Fall faster! I brought Cait Sith just to see how he reacts to it!"
I think one of my tops is a split among all of the Brahne destruction. I think the combination of seeing amazingly rendered summons destroying entire cities that were once presumed safe was chilling. Cleyra was a big one, being the first. I think just because we work so hard going up and down the tree to fight stuff, then we pick all the right paths to save the people (psh, yeah right...they always die and the strategy guide sucks ass. it's like a Choose Your Own Adventure where the smart option is the dumb one. "Hey, the mages are left, so let's go not-left! BLARG, DEADED!"), and then we fight Beatrix (and lose, but still). Then, we figure out how to get onto the ship to finally stop them and...! Brahne fucks the whole town up with Odin.
Repeat the process for Lindblum and Alexandria. Again, chill factor probably in that order because as much as nobody cares about Atmos, seeing Garnet's reaction to it and knowing that the guys that are helping you like Cid are possibly dead was kinda "whoa!" So...I guess the FF summon scenes are my picks.

I'm not a huge Sephiroth fan, but him walking out of Nibelheim after torching it, complete with that really weird whooshing sound effect, will never not be chilling for me.

The most chilling scene is in FFVII when you are trying to get through the cold mountain and then it chills you to the bone and you pass out. Hehe. I'm such a cheater. But for real, though... I actually don't know I'll have to think about that.

Hmm. Some of what I feel is really chilling is already mentioned, so I'll go with what hasn't been mentioned. How about...
- Seymour's "marrying" Yuna-- man that guy really creeps one out. - Edea, possessed by Ultimecia, cursing the people who are cheering at her as fools and offering up Rinoa as a sacrifice. - Peace has been achieved between the humans and espers and everyone is happy and ready to go home; then Kefka shows up and starts some magicite mayhem and slaughters General Leo. - Vanille reveals the truth about her actions to Sazh who is driven to the point of near suicide and then can only watch in order as he is led away, his son Dajh now a crystal. - Garnet/Dagger collapses in horror as Atomos wreaks havoc on Lindblum. - Hope and Noel are in shock as Serah collapses dead, having seen a new vision of the future and chaos consumes the world of Gran Pulse.
