Gabranth and Basch are more...disappointed in their performance in FF12. Hard to be glad to leave your home world when you have an advantage, but they sucked so much in their own world that they're more just worried about the future. So no, it wasn't a missed opportunity to write about it. They're just...too worried that they're a terrible team.
Okay, gonna mention one thing about your Scarlet/Heidegger comments. Which means there will be some SPOILERS for the next part. So don't read if you don't wanna know but this will be what happens...pretty much first thing in Part 2.
***Brief Spoilers***
Yes, that's Scarlet's plan. She has a Plan C. And that's your spoiler! But now for the anti-spoiler, I've been thinking about that scene (haven't written it yet) and I REALLY don't know if Gabranth/Basch are that stupid. So while that's Scarlet's intention, it doesn't mean it's going to happen.
***End Spoilers***

I don't see Basch being that dumb, now that I think of it, but after finishing in the middle of the pack for two legs in a row due to overly conservative racing, I could see Gabranth wanting to do it, if only for morale purposes and to keep themselves from finishing close to the back again. Also, I could see Gabranth remembering what Zidane did on the last leg just to help Edea & Seifer and wanting to bust up their alliance (even though we know there is none, the other teams think there is), reminding Basch of that, and convincing him to do the Fast Forward. After all, Zidane did stupidly make himself an outcast on the last leg. So get rid of the outcast no one either likes or trusts, currying some favor and possibly future deals with the other teams in the process.
But again, it's ultimately up to what Bob writes. The rest of us have no say. But still, that was just food for thought for whenever you can finally resume writing.

Well, with the news that a stupid strike stopped you from getting Internet, Bob, I have you've still at least had time to write up more of episode three during the time you've had to go dark.

Headaches. Ruiners of productive writing. I got a bit of writing done today, but my head hurts too much to continue and still have some quality in my writing. So bad news: not tonight. Good news: EASILY can be done tomorrow. Probably only needs an hour tops to finish this, which I can totally do.
AFFR resumes tomorrow! Set your calendars!

YAY! Time to finally see, after nearly a month, what happens next! All right. Some pretty good movement on the teams' parts. I loved the trick in raising the price at the churro cart. Good on Lightning for noticing it and warning Fang. And good on subsequent teams for realizing it, too. I like the Detour a lot. Too bad I don't really know what either one looks like. But Lightning was a total bad-ass to soldier on in spite of the hit from the boulder. And I love that Terra figured out the other Detour in almost no time at all. Not surprised to see Cid struggling with the climb, but I'm a little surprised that Vanille is. This sort of climbing thing is something they both do very often. It shouldn't be a problem for either of them, obstacles or no obstacles. Scarlet & Heidegger's Fast Forward banter was funny all around. I must be psychic, though. They really did ultimately end up just doing Plan A. Can't believe you left off right when Snow & Lightning got trapped, Bob. I'd have at least preferred to see one other team reach the U-Turn first. Still, good second part. Hope the third comes along soon. There's a three-day weekend, so hopefully, some work can be done then. Maybe even finished, I hope.

I'm serious too! Damn episode coveted its neighbor and died. Now: burning in hell for its sins.
