I had a potentially neat idea that I wanted to run by everybody. The idea is Mallboro Lofts. Basically, NORG will add a second story to the mall, but that second story is where your characters will live (I'll make a reason for the loss of apartments). Each store will have a single Loft above it where all people working at that store can live. SO, you have to live with fellow employees. SO if you want to live alone, you have to work alone! SO you have to work with people you like. SO you never really leave your job and your boss can just run upstairs and tell you to get your sorry ass out of bed.
SO I think it could be a fun idea. It gives freedom, plus people that don't care to interact can just work at NPC stores or something like that. Plus, none of us really talk much about the characters' break times, so who cares if they had a day off? THEY DIDN'T! WORK-FOREVER-Bujuru!
Anyway, whatcha'll think? Potentially fun, or would you rather keep to an apartments system? It'd definitely require little maintenance, plus allow for interaction.

I have to say no to the loft. It's a temporary fix to a non-existent problem. Besides, how many times can someone post "My roomies and I had an orgy!" or "I hate my loftmates. All they do is whine, complain, and eat my food!" before it gets old? That and I like my characters by themselves (for now). The lofts would also screw up the marriage dynamic, especially for Pluto Security.

Initially I thought 'yeah, that sounds cool', but Stephen's right - I think we'd lose out on couples shacking up, which could end up being kinda restrictive for those of us that use a character's other half as a sort of extension of their character. It's not something I've done often, but occasionally it's been great to be able to use Beatrix in Steiner-related plots, like that time he went missing following his week as an oglop.
I haven't voted as such, but I guess what I'd like to see most is a revised apartment system. The potential's there, it just needs tweaking a bit.

Considering the varying natures of my characters, I don't think that Lofts would be a good idea. It's an interesting notion, but the amount of friction involved between people would almost certainly result in suicide. Not to mention that is something happens to the mall, then by default it happens to the apartments. Sort of puts all the eggs in one basket.

Ah, good point about the eggs in one basket, although at the same time, it'd also be beneficial in some ways. Okay, so Lofts will go off my possible ideas list since people like apartments. Good to know. Although, regarding all eggs in one basket, I know I liked some of the weeks when people were essentially locked in the mall because there wasn't a problem with "Is Sephiroth around? Or was he back at his apartment? I guess I'll wait to make my Seph post until Seph posts." And then if Seph posts late in the week, then that somebody else has not wait. (And again, Seph is my random example, nothing about your Seph, Amy).
Anywho, I'll consider what ya'll have said, but apartments will likely remain intact, though possibly changed.

No biggie, Bob. He's a very easy example to use.
Within character, I like using him to prove why things won't end well. Like the Lofts: He only vaguely likes/cares about...maybe four or five PCs, and I only play one of those. Being stuck in a room with everyone else in the mall and told he has to live with them? After five minutes, the place is on fire and he's spouting manifestos. No people skills at all.

I don't mind my characters being locked in the mall on occasion. I just like my characters having a choice of living by themselves or with others.
