I'm starting rumors about myself. Rumor says that Bob is CONSIDERING a Season 4, prior to the Fallen-Stars & All-Stars season. It's just a rumor though. Shh. We don't spread rumors nor gossip at TGP. Don't let Bob find out.
I'm calling it rumor because it's mostly based on if I can come up with 11/12 teams that I like. And by 'like,' I mean "feel the race is missing." I still might just add a few of those teams into the Fallen-Stars as I said before, particularly some of those FF13 teams that never got the chance to race, but I started thinking of a few teams that I might still like to use and the list exceeds the number I wanted to just include as a side dish to Fallen-Stars.
I'd still like to get to Fallen-Stars sooner than later, so the options are:
1. Full Season 4, then Fallen-Stars. 2. Integrate a few new teams into Fallen-Stars and don't do Season 4. 3. Short Season 4, then Fallen-Stars. Short means I might do a season of double-eliminations or something like that so that things go faster.
Do you guys have preference? I mean, it'll end up being what I want in the end, but I'm kinda curious about the group's opinion. If you're opposed to any of those ideas, I'd like to hear thoughts. Also, if you want a full cast for a Season 4 and not just integrated into Fallen-Stars, feel free to suggest a few teams here. I know there are already a few team suggestion threads, but I'm trying to look through possible teams and see if there are any people/combinations I haven't considered. You can even suggest single people that you might like to see in the race, even if you're not sure who their partners should be.

The more I think about it, the more I think option 2 is the best. I don't really have anything new to add to the argument that I didn't already mention to you before. Like we've said, there are still a lot of great individuals that you could choose, but hardly any great teams. For instance, Kefka would be fun, but who would Kefka ever race with? And while it would be nice to squeeze in some FF13 teams, I don't think they'd be terribly engaging racers. Most of them are way too serious; even the not serious characters are serious. I'd say one, two teams max from FF13.
As for finding more pairings, I still remember helping you find teams for Season 3 and we were combing FF Wiki looking for ANY team pairings. It was already tough getting a good cast together for S3. Season 4 would be, in my opinion, half composed of filler teams and half legitimate teams. Not to mention the fact that there's a serious shortage of worlds going on here. I think it'd be hard enough to find locations for the rest of this season and two more seasons, let alone three seasons after this one.
Not to mention the fact that I'm diggin' Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. I really like having teams that I'm already familiar with and I'm sure I'd like it in AFFR too.
Ultimately, I think 5 total seasons is AFFR's limit. Anything more would either stretch the fourth season or one of the two seasons after that.
I HAVE SPOKEN.

As for worlds, I think I'll actually be okay there because I think Fallen-Stars and All-Stars will heavily pull from repeat worlds. Some worlds are only half-explored, so I'd like to explore the other half. For example, in Chrono Trigger they never did prehistoric or (I think) 600 AD. So worlds I'm not terribly concerned with (though maybe semi-concerned).
But yeah, the point about teams is valid. I have maybe 5-6 teams that I'd like to use, but the rest of my "teams" are "this guy I want + a guy that goes with that person." Sometimes it turns out that the tacked-on person is really fun to write because they might not have a fully-explored personality (creative freedom woo!), but you can't really count on that. . . .
Anyway, other opinions? Fleck hath spoken. Who else speaketh?

I say "none of the above." I still think a Fallen-Stars with ALL PREVIOUS TEAMS would work best. They'd all know the race, so it'd be best NOT to throw them in with some new teams.

Not a bad call, Dale. There are just a few teams that I would still like to use though, so that's why I'm considering another season. Problem is, I want Fallen-Stars and All-Stars to be my final two seasons. I like when All-Stars come at the end of a series because then it's sad when later seasons come out and like, they have All-Stars, too, but they didn't get to race. It works for Amazing Race since it's gone on so long that you can't fit 'em all anyway, but it's like when a band releases a Greatest Hits before they stop making albums. It's like "but...what about those hits? I want those on my compilation, too. *sniff, tear*"
But at the same time, I AM itching to start Fallen Stars....

Not a bad call, Dale. There are just a few teams that I would still like to use though, so that's why I'm considering another season. And hence why you should've just included 13 teams this season. (And teams from the other games you might've preferred more than some of the teams chosen this time around.) Who the fuck cares if it is still relatively fresh (it actually hit its first anniversary a few weeks ago) and that there are people who haven't played it yet and thus don't know the story details behind the characters? I'm sorry, but that is their fault. I had no clue about the Tactics teams, but accepted them, anyway.

Okay, think about it this way. Do you want another season because you want another season, or because you want a couple more teams? I think if you want the latter, then the season will be weak, because your heart will only be in a handful of teams.
And once you get past the profanity and rage, Dale has a point. There probably shouldn't be any new teams in either Fallen Stars or All Stars. While it is unfortunate that there's a whole FF worth of characters you've yet to explore, you have to really ask yourself: do you feel lucky, punk? Do you think that you could really do something with FF13 characters? I remember you saying that you liked Snow/Serah because they have a drama-free, "normal" relationship (aside from all that crystal/focus stuff). But is that really enough to make them an interesting team?

Only just saw this thread earlier today. Anyways, I'm not opposed to the idea of more seasons if there's more to explore. And if it's a matter of needing more teams, I'm sure I could come up with a few ideas. Are suggestions wanted at this point? And would you be willing to tell us which team ideas you're already considering?

No, and that's just it. The decisions and possibilities for teams have almost totally waned. I guess some of the "rejects" can be turned to, but really? I'd just go on to an all-returning-teams Fallen-Stars.

I'm not against doing a fourth season of originals and actually would like to do it, it's mostly a matter of having the time to do three more seasons, plus the desire to start re-using teams for Fallen/All Stars. Maybe I'd reconsider after writing a couple more seasons, but I don't really feel too hard-up for worlds, nor teams. It is true what Fleck is saying though. Some people are great individuals, but I partly look at it as "who could I tack on to make a team so that such-and-so would race?"
Agent: Feel free to give some team ideas. I know you've already given a few, but I'm always up for suggestions. Currently, I'm looking at a lot of main characters (like, mainest of the main) and villains. A couple examples being Seymour and Kefka. I think either one would be awesome on the race, but I just don't know about partners. Seymour and... Tromell? Kinoc? KELK RONSO? I just don't know. And with Kefka... Gesthal? Leo? KELK RONSO? Some of those might work, but it's a bit of a one-sided team since I'm picking part 2 to get part 1, y'know? So I'm curious to see if some teams get thrown out that make me go "hmm, that WOULD be interesting."
It's not always an issue about how much I like the character. Sometimes it's just the team dynamic that's fun to write. So there are times that I've forgotten a character because I don't really like 'em, but then when writing their stuff, I decided I liked 'em because they had a fun team dynamic. For example, Lani and Amarant were a couple of my favorites from Season 1, but I mostly picked them because they were an easy pick for a team (bounty hunters that work together, going after "easy" money). Granted, I do <3 Lani even in-game, but I enjoyed writing them a lot.

I thought you wanted the series done faster and sooner, though. Adding another season just prolongs it.

If I had the time to do it, then no, I don't want it over. I like AFFR very much. I've just had very little time to do it.
What I'm thinking now is that I'll probably TRY to do a Season 4, but it'll depend on how long it takes. I'm going to have this summer off (or at least only working a full-time job, not this "full-time student teaching PLUS full-time college classes" crap), so if I can get working on it and get things going, then I'll try to get a full season done over the summer (and hopefully more, meaning into FS or AS). But otherwise, if it's looking like I won't have time even over this summer, then I'll just jump to FS. We'll see.

Right. I've been trying to think up ideas for teams, and here's what I think could work:
Snow & Serah - Yeah, I really do think this could work. There's definitely enough material provided in the game to work with and I'd say that both could definitely hold their own in the race.
Zidane & Kuja - Since Garnet/Dagger has already been on the show, somebody else has to pair up with Zidane. And I definitely want to see Zidane on the program. Therefore, Kuja is the obvious choice. And there's a lot to work with here, given that they were antagonists, but Zidane then tried to save Kuja in the end, and stayed with him in his dying moments. Yeah, this pairing could definitely work.
Red XIII and Bugenhagen - Seems kinda jokey at first, but actually, I think this one could work. The game gives you a lot to go on - Bugenhagen has an interesting backstory in that the game tells you that he used to work for Shinra. And Red XIII could certainly hold his own in the race, even though there might be some awkwardness in relation to things like riding chocobos or whatever.
Brother & Buddy - Actually, I'm kind of surprised this hasn't already been done. While the two may crack on each other a lot (particularly Buddy making cracks about Brother), it's obvious that they've been friends for a long time and are very much in tune with each other. They could very well have potential and the comic possibilities are also enormous.
Laguna & Raine Loire - I don't believe that Laguna has been on the race yet, and who better to pair him with than Raine? Obviously we know a lot about Laguna, and I think the game gives us a fair bit to go on as far as Raine's personality from the flashbacks. I say she's one strong woman to be able to put up with Laguna.
Larsa Ferrinas and Vayne Solidor - Since Penelo is already on the race with Vaan, she can't pair up with Larsa. So why not Larsa and Vayne together? I think quite a few people would love to see Larsa on the race, and I don't think having Vayne on is a bad idea either.
That's six ideas, and I'm sure if we brainstormed, we could come up with more that could work.

All good ideas! I probably wouldn't do Red/Bugen since one flies and the other is an animal, so they'd be a fairly cheateriffic team. I'll say though, at least a couple of those others have been considered, so I'm glad to see them on somebody else's list.

No. No, no, no. Still against a fourth season of new teams. Still against it. I've waited too long for the returning teams seasons, and to have them delayed for yet ANOTHER new team season? I've decided I'll pass on this one, thanks. If it comes to pass, that is. Right. I've been trying to think up ideas for teams, and here's what I think could work: Snow & Serah - Yeah, I really do think this could work. There's definitely enough material provided in the game to work with and I'd say that both could definitely hold their own in the race. I think Serah would flame out really easily, actually. In 13, she was an overly-delicate flower. Plus, Snow's recklessness and impulsiveness would kill them quickly, too.
