And . . . they made it through again. Even after a fairly late start from the Pit Start. Even after making a questionable Detour choice. Even after Dona was way too lazy to help Barthello at the Forge Axe Detour. Even after she unwisely chose to do that weapon-wielding Roadblock. Even after going the wrong way through the seasonal forest. (Bob, is there an actual name for that forest, or what?) Even after they were nearly overtaken in that final footrace. Wow.
At this point, it's more clear than ever that they're the villain team. But if Bob intends them to be the long-term one, then surely a leg win is on the horizon for them. And at least they're still keeping things interesting.
That said, while I like Dona & Barthello, I'd like them better if Bob wrote them more in character. Dona was always a bitch, but I don't think it was this bad! This seems like FF10 Dona, not FF10-2 Dona, who was a lot less of a bitch. And Barthello wasn't this spineless in either game, was he?

The Upperlands. Upperlands Forest if you like.
Also, I do try to ignore FFX-2 whenever possible, so Dona and Barthello are more FFX based, but I know from the little I've played of FFX-2 that Dona still is quite the bitch and the only thing I really saw of Barthello thus far is him running off crying out for Dona when they were on opposite sides of that league thing. So yeah, I stand by my character development. Dona puts people down and never believes herself to be wrong (anytime in FFX that anybody corrects her she just calls them dumb and storms off) and the ONLY time Barthello stands up for anything was in regard to Auron. Otherwise his only actions are nodding in agreement to anything and everything Dona says. So I'll call that pretty spineless...

Okay. Fair enough. I just wanted to make sure.
And yeah, I actually had a flashback to FF10-2, myself, and remembered that Barthello was actually more spineless in that game than he was in FF10.
However, Dona was only a bitch to him in FF10-2. She was much more civil to Yuna than she had been in FF10 and, from what I can remember, didn't hit her with any put-downs at all.

Okay, that plan to ensure Brahne & Garnet's survival? Genius! Though risky. I'll give Dona her props for taking that risk, knowing that it could go wrong, but seeing it pay off, nonetheless.
And bad Barthello for blowing the chance at the alliance to get rid of Reno & Rude! Thank heavens Fran & Balthier corrected your mistake.

So Barthello's finally standing up to Dona. Good on him. And he stood up to her for all the right reasons this time. At least he didn't almost cause them to fall behind like on leg five.
But now, with Brahne & Garnet now out of the race, they're at least the second-weakest team left. It's between them and Biran & Yenke as to who should go next, I think.
On the plus side, Dona kept her bitchiness down on this leg.

After keeping her bitchiness down on the last leg, she brought it back out in full force on this leg. First on Barthello (natch), then on Biran, then on Zell.
I still oddly like them, at least more than I do Biran & Yenke. But it's at the point where, if they're not intended to be the race-long (endgame) villain team, they need to go, and soon.

Wow. I'm actually kind of surprised they're doing so well on this leg. They're already in first heading for the next task! They might actually take this leg, it seems.

I can't believe it. Dona & Barthello actually won a leg. And I'm actually . . . happy about it. They really owned the leg and deserved it, so unlike most here on the board, I'm gonna be the sole person praising them.
Congrats, Dona & Barthello!

Hey, I'll give credit where credit is due. They did a good job, they used the U-Turn smartly and their conduct on the whole was excellent. So they have my full kudos for this leg.

Just as thought that Dona might be heading for a redemption arc, she goes and pulls this bullshit with Ma. Guess she's still the villain.
I don't think she and Barthello will go this time, though, because Reina & Faris just HAVE to confront them over what they did to Zone & Watts.

So Dona went back to the villainous behavior on the ninth leg, but it seems she's been relatively pleasant (or at least tolerable) on the tenth one so far.
Either way, as the sole person here who must like them, I'm glad that it looks like they're guaranteed a spot in the F3 now that they've won the Fast Forward!

They did, indeed, get into the F3, and they're in a fairly good spot to win. But Dona's gonna have to help out Barthello more than ever if she wants them both to take home the money. It's gonna be an interesting race since three strong, solid teams are in the F3.
Can't wait!

So close, and yet so far. Seems like they would've cinched that final victory had Barthello not made the choice to swim and beat Reina & Faris.
That said, they ran a VERY good final leg and would've deserved the victory had they snagged it.
