The Magic Missiles Rydia=10 Garnet=10 Rinoa=4 Aeris=6 Yuna=8 Lulu=4 Selphie=7 Vanille=4
SPOILERS:
LO vs MAR: The Marlboros are proving they are not to be taken lightly! However, Loveless proves that they don't give a crap and continue to win. Close game though!
TME vs GW: Last league's winner...well, they won. GW continues to suck. We should really decide if we're doing 8 or 9 in the tournament coming up because it's basically going to mean "Guests yes/no." I kinda wanted to have this decided already, but nobody replied. Also need to still decide double-elimination or not.
GB vs NS: This just isn't the Grizzlies league. They continue to struggle with the Nightshades, despite Grizzlies' constant place in the top brackets and Shades' constant place in the bottom brackets over the past couple leagues/tourneys. Was quite a back and forth match the whole way through, and what high scores!
SM7 vs MRC: The closest match ever, really. SM7 was looking good for a long time, especially considering Gafgarion's SEVERAL missed shots on goal from half court, but it all came down to a final winning shot by the Mercs made at 4:58. So close (to a tie)!
LG vs MAG: The Goers spanked those girls.

Okay, my two cents.
Cent 1: I vote for an 8 team tournament. For one, just because it makes the numbers easier in the tournament. And for two, I don't think it's a "Guests yes/no." To be fair to the Guests, they have had to play basically 5 of the consistently toughest teams in the league in their first six games. The rest of their schedule is a lot better though, and I predict that it'll be a fun scrap between the bottom 3 or 4, so I want to go with the 8-team tourney.
Cent 2: I vote for another double elimination tournament. Loveless wants to pad their tournament stats and what better way than to extend the tourney? Even MORE games to win! If Loveless sweeps this tourney, they stand a good chance of taking a lot of the Merc's records away.

Agreed about GW - personally, I predict that Guest Who has a chance of taking these last three games and landing on the low-end of the middle of the pack.
Also, 8-teams works for me, and the double-elimination tournament was significantly more fun.

Yeah, Guests have definitely had a strength of schedule thing going on. Loveless might have the opposite since they play the #2, 3, and 4 teams next. Looks like the bottom three, GW, NS, and MAG all play each other coming up, too, so those games will be very significant.
Okay, 8-team double-elim it is!

I second that vote for an 8-team, double-elimination tourney. Nice and neat.

SPOILERS:
MAR vs TME: The newbies show they're made of good stuff by taking down last league's winners, though it was definitely close.
LO vs GB: Holy hell. Loveless proves they're the team to beat by far, taking down a top team with one hell of a beating. There might be SOME combination that says otherwise, but they've basically sealed the #1 spot of the league already! Nice goin', Lovies!
GW vs SM7: Close game! But it goes to SM7, who now enter the big batch of 3-game winners! GW continues to sink like rocks.
NS vs LG: Goers continue to rock the house. SM7 is the only team to beat them this season, though Mercs came close with a tie.
MRC vs MAG: This was an interesting game. MAG led it, then they were tied and going back and forth, then Mercs took it back until the fiiiinal seconds of the game, when MAG tied it up.

Only one round left! Get your line-ups to me by Wednesday! Also, Rich, gotta get your Round 8 line-ups still. Let me know if you're having a hard time with the new format or anything like that.

SPOILERS:
SM7 vs TME: Experiments take it and edge out SM7 for higher rankings. Still not in the Top 3, but they have a chance at it depending how next round goes.
LG vs LO: Yep, Loveless is unstoppable this round. They've already won the league, so let's just hope they take it easy on the Mercs while they rest their top dogs. Yeah? Yeah? Come on, you know you want to.
MAG vs GW: The fight for the bottom intensifies! The Guests win puts them above the Missiles, so now MAG needs to win and GW needs to lose in order for MAG to continue onto the tournament. Otherwise, MAG will sit this tourney out. That basically means MAG's fate is in Wyvern's hands, since his teams play MAG and GW...
MRC vs NS: Wow, what an interesting game. NS squeaks out an early point, then stalls the entire game, old Loveless style. A one goal victory for NS.
GB vs MAR: Crazy match. The fact that it ends in a tie is a testament to the Marlboro's abilities, since they had some big stamina snafus going on. They had to use an untrained goalie, in fact! And STILL they pull off a tie against a top-tier team! Good effort, guys.

Come on, you know you want to. I don't think I CAN go easy on you. The Goers game was my "rest the top dogs" game, and I still came out on top. I think the only way to go easy on you would be to deliberately throw the game, WHICH I WILL NEVER DO! Death before dishonor! Loveless till I die! Wow... that last one sounds really emo. "Loveless till I die!" he sobbed, turning up the My Chemical Romance to max volume.

First, an update to say that the earlier post has been edited. MAR had some serious stamina issues, which caused the delay, in part, so now they're fixed and we're all prepping for Saturday, which is the final round of the league.
League Notes:
Loveless, for the first time ever, has such a badass record that they've known they were league champs for a couple games, really. So #1 goes to them, 100% positive.
After the GB/MAR tie, we're looking at the Goers taking second place. Again, no chance of otherwise. Even if we went with the idea of wins being 2 points and ties being 1, it would still mean a tie for points if Goers lose, but I'd say tiebreaker goes to whomever actually has wins instead of ties, which would be Goers.
So, long story short, we have a Loveless/Goers top two, in that order.
Third place gets interesting though. There are potentially five teams to take third place: Grizzlies, Mercs, Marlboros, Experiments, and SM7. Grizzlies and Mercs, should either one win, will take third. If they both win, they'll arm wrestle or something. However, they're playing the two top teams in the league, so that...might not happen. If not, then it comes down to MAR vs SM7 and TME vs MAG.
TME might have the win against MAG, since MAG is the low man on the totem pole. Still, MAG could pull it off. Otherwise, in the case of ALL these teams losing, we turn to MAR vs SM7. They COULD tie, but assuming no tie, a winner will be found there.
My bet is on TME to pull off the win. If they can rack up the points on MAG, then even if MAR or SM7 win, it'll come down to goals, which would give the edge to TME if they win by a good margin. Still, MAR could pull off a strong win against SM7. Or, hell, maybe GB or MRC can pull off a win against the top teams. WHO KNOWS!?
Point is, the race for third is exciting, but kind of pathetic. Also, the race for the bottom is interesting just because it's highly relevant. Either Fleck or Count will be minus one team for the tournament, and it's allll up to Wyvern's teams!

Which reminds me, we absolutely must lock-in whether or not we're using 2 points for a win, or 3 points. I'm pretty sure we already discussed this (and decided on 2) but I can't find where we mentioned it. It's just that we don't play enough games in a season or get enough ties for a 3-1 system to really work. I mean, with our short seasons, if we use a 3-1 then a tie might as well be a loss, really. I want ties to still count for something and still have enough weight to possibly tip the scales. And in a 2-1 system, then the Guests and the Missiles are tied in points (with the tiebreaker goal differential favoring the Guests). EDIT: I found this mention of it in the League 1 thread. ... and if we're using the 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie system, the points spread is going to be very thin. Granted, that doesn't prove that we agreed on it, but it does show that we mentioned it at that time and that I was working under the assumption that we were going 2-1. If anyone can find a spot where we actually talked about this and agreed on an answer, that would be good.

I don't think we ever did agree on anything. I think the above mention of it was all we ever did. I don't have strong opinions, but I'm more for the 3-1 system, partly because it's what most sports do and to me, a tie should basically be a loss, so 1 point seems more fitting. I just feel like the ability to clench a win is worth another whole point. But I never replied to the point system because I'm fine with 2-1, so if somebody has strong feelings on it, like it seems you do, Fleck, then I'm fine with conforming to it.
This IS the league that is going to require that discussion be held though, so it'd be good if everybody could weigh in on the topic.

Each game should have the same yield, right? So if there is a winner and a loser in a 3-2-1 w-t-l scenario, four points are given out. 3 to winner, one to loser. In the even of a tie, each team gets two.
In a 2-1-1, w-t-l scenario, a game with a winner gives out an extra point. a win/lose outcome will grant the winner two and the loser one, for 3 points; and a tie outcome will only grant each player one, so 2 points total.
My point is that being better than everyone else is the main objective of this sport, and judging by this league's outcome alone, ties are fairly prominent.
Therefore, I suggest the 2-1-1 w-l-t outcome. Winning needs to be a big deal.

The League is over! Results to follow, but first, here are the first round of the tournament's stamina line-ups! **********Tournament Round 1 Stamina********** Grizzly Bears Orlandu=7 Sazh=10 Zangan=4 Auron=4 Duncan=0 Galuf=9 Tellah=2 Dr. Kadowaki=10 Loveless Lightning=8 Terra=10 Genesis=5 Cecil=2 Sabin=10 Vivi=9 Hope=4 Marche=4 Mercenaries Lani=4 Amarant=3 Ba'Gamnan=0 Gafgarion=8 Tseng=10 Elena=10 Rude=7 Worker 8=8 Marlboro Mayhem Brother=6 Tidus=7 Zack=3 Cloud=8 Rufus=10 Shinra=5 Ashe=0 Ritz=10 Sublimely Magnificent 7 Jecht=7 Balthier=8 Seifer=6 Cid Highwind=10 Edge=4 Edgar=7 Laguna=10 Snow=2 The Mad Experiments Odine=2 Hojo=10 The Mask=7 Kuja=4 Mikoto=6 No. 288=10 Deling=4 Julius=9 Guests Who Larsa=10 Edea=4 Minwu=1 Alma=10 Leo=6 Olan=1 FuSoYa=8 Lebreau=8 Nightshades Blank=4 Illua=7 Fujin=4 Chime=10 Mira=4 Frimelda=9 Reno=10 Cissnei=7 Tournament Information: The tournament will be a double-elimination once again, seeded by their position in the tournament. The Goers do not compete, nor does the last place team in the league. Ties are not allowed in tournaments, so new tie-breaker rules will apply. Tie-breakers work as follows. If the score is tied at the end of the second half, then the tie-breaker round begins immediately after. The teams line back up as normal and whichever team had the ball when the whistle was blown will be in possession of the ball. The first point to be scored will end the game...I think that's how it goes anyway. Wrote that a couple months ago, so it's what I remember happening at least League Results (Spoilers): Congratulations to Loveless on their tournament win! If not for the Mad Experiments, they would've been undefeated in the league. We'll see if it'll hold up for the tournament. Goers got silver. Blah de blah. Also, congratulations to the Marlboro Mayhem! First time in the league and they score the bronze! They tied with the Mad Experiments, but they had a higher goal differential (barely! +4 to +2!). Round 9 Results: Interesting games. Lots of close ones. Grizzly Bears were being dominated by the Goers. How they only lost by one is a miracle, really. Loveless continued their "win by one" technique, which applied for most of the league, really. They had a few blow-out victories and one loss, but a fair portion of wins were only by one, like their recent victory over the Mercenaries. Marlboro Mayhem took down the Sublimely Magnificent 7 pretty good. A three-point spread. Magic Missiles tried hard, but lost to the Mad Experiments, which officially puts them out of the tournament, regardless of whether or not the Guest Who won their game. Sorry, Magic ladies. Finally, the Nightshades and the Guest Who had a cluster game that was one by a single point by the Nightshades. And finally, on a sad note, the tournament brackets are up ( challonge.com/blitztournament05 ) and, well, they suck. Sorry, ya'll, but with the exception of those players with only one team in the tournament, we're all playing with ourselves. Fleck vs Fleck, me vs me, and Wyvern vs Wyvern. D'oh! Hate when this happens, but them's the rules! At least it's double-elimination, so it'll basically mean we're all going to have a team on top and a team below after the first round. Get those line-ups to me by Wednesday and we'll get this started! Happy blitzing, everybody!

Good ol' NS pulling out two cluster-wins in a row. Also, I guess I underestimated Loveless. Why I did that is beyond me, but I assume it has to do with the timing of when I made my predictions. That being said, the rest of the league went much as I'd expected (although GB and GW fared worse than I'd thought), in terms of the overall wins being low and ties being high (16!)... I wonder what shake-ups will occur for league 6. If I recall, League 3/4 had significantly different results from league 2. I'm already excited for the tournament! Congrats, Fleck and Loveless! To the day you die; you rock. Undefeated next time? Not if I can help it, but who's to say I can?
