Welcome to The Goat Pen's Blitzball Games!
How to Make a Team:
To play the game, you must create a team of players. These players are characters from the different Final Fantasy games. The only stipulation is that they must appear in Final Fantasy and they cannot be already in use (check the Team Registration thread to see who is already taken).
To create a team, it is recommended that you download one of the two excel files below. These will help you easily create each player and will provide you with the output that you must send to whomever is simulating the games (currently Fleck is doing this). You may send the outputs via Forum PM (private message).
How to Register:
Go to the Team Registration thread and first see what teams are already in use as well as what characters are in use. When you have a team name, make a post containing the team name and the player names. Only post to the Team Registration thread once, then make edits/modifications if you change your team name(s) or players, but do not make a second post.
How to Play:
You don't play. This is a simulation. All you need to do are create players that conform to the current level of the game. Each player gains level-up packages that will boost their stats. The total number of packages cannot exceed the current game level. The package distributions can be found in the PDF below.
Packages, however, are slightly limited. You cannot put all of your levels into one package. The most you can ever have in any one package is half, rounded down. For instance, if the current level is 10, you can only have 5 levels in one package such as Jecht Shot. The other 5 must be distributed among other packages. If the current level is 11, you can still only have 5 levels in one package. Meaning any one package cannot have more levels in it than levels in the rest of the packages combined.
The Stats:
Endurance (END): The stat to better resist dropping the ball when tackled.
Shot (SHT): The stat to take more powerful shots at the goal.
Pass (PAS): The stat to make longer, more successful passes to teammates.
Attack (ATK): The stat to tackle the ball carrier harder to attempt to steal the ball.
Block (BLK): The stat for players to better block shots and passes.
Catch (CA): The stat for goalies to better catch/block a shot at the goal.
Formations:
There are currently 3 formations available for your team. Formations allow your team to move in different patterns, allowing diversity among teams. It is up to you which formation to choose. It will default to "Normal" if unspecified. See "Formations" in the Downloads section.
Risk:
Risk is how gutsy each player will be during a game. The players are able to take guesses about how successful they will be during shots and passes. Players using "High" Risk will take shots and make passes, even if their estimate shows them barely falling short. "Normal" Risk will only take shots and make passes if their estimate shows even the slightest bit of success. "Low" Risk will only take shots and make passes if their estimate shows moderate success.
Goalie-to-Player Bonus:
So why is a goalie special? Shouldn't you just max out their CA? Well...yes. But players will also randomly gain a boost from the goalie in SHT, PAS, END, ATK, or BLK during each encounter, be it a shot, tackle, or any event. While the random boost they get may not help them (such as a blocking bonus while they are shooting), the bonuses are very important because they add the goalie's same stat to the player. For instance, if a player has a SHT of 20 and his team's goalie has a SHT of 8, then that player may randomly have a SHT of 28.
Stamina:
Your team WILL get tired as they play, which is why each team is allowed two reserves. Each player has only 10 Stamina and playing certain positions will deplete your stamina. The positions' use of stamina is listed below:
Forwards: -3 Stamina
Center: -2 Stamina
Defenders: -2 Stamina
Goalie: -1 Stamina
Reserve/Bench: Restores all 10 Stamina
Before each match, you will be given the option to move your players around. If you do not move the players' positions, they will continue to use the last-listed positions. If a player does not have the required stamina for that position, he will be replaced by a randomly-chosen backup player.
