SoE is very good (I have both the original game and a copy for emulation) though I like Secret of Mana more. yeah I knew everything about that world, I think I finished that game over 5 times. I think the bad thing about SoE was that it was very hard for a beginning gamer coz of the crummy first 2 weapons you got. If you can get your dog to lvl 2 the game becomes much easier (it's the first thing I do ingame), the same goes for the spear. I think the story was ok and funny sometimes (like the references to fictional movies and stuff by the hero)

Yeah, I love it (I have both original game and copy for emulation as well). And yes, SoM is much better, but still! SoE catches so much crap from critics. Sure the plot is kinda meh and the dungeons are annoying, but the dialog is soooooooo fuggin funny! Tiny cracks me up! Oh dude! I found the best site! It make animated gifs and collages of parts in Evermore! The awesome lines summed up in one webpage! This'll make anyone want to play the game (especially you, Wyvern! Play it already! You'll crack up laughing at this game). zanyvg.overclocked.org/secretofevermore/index.html (the later ones that look like one panel ones are animated gifs, so just wait and they'll change all animated-like).

I hated that ratking, if he used a double explosion (or nitro whatever) combo on you, you were dead meat . The game is indeed quite funny, like the fortune teller turning into a basket and stuff and loads of other stuff ^^

Gah! The Rat King! He HURTS! There was only ONE game that I beat him easily, and that was when I had the boy (named Rufus... Dog was Dark Nation) with a kickass hardball spell at level 8 or something, so each one beaned him for like 200. I beaned the shit out of him. Other games though, my ass gets FRIED. I hate that the dog is useless for that fight, yet you need to keep it alive just to have it as another target for Ratty to hit...

Indeed, sounds like you had the same probs I did. i usually just upgraded the brand new spear you got to lvl 2 and by that time I always had like a lvl 5-6 of the upgraded fireball spell (the one you find in the temple where sabin and edgar had so many problems ). becoz of the lvling with the spear I usually gained a few lvls so that didnt hurt either ^^.

That's what I do sometimes. I also will just fight him with the horn spear at level 3... But that takes a while and eats up your heals and petals and all that good stuff.
....poor Edgar and Sabin...

mmm I never use my old spears when I get a new one. the spears are, next to the bazooka, the most powerfull weapons ingame when upgraded to lvl3 coz of their attack power and range ( this game doesnt really show goodwill towards melee fighting )

I've thought that many times.... Though of the final weapons (I haven't tried, I'm just thinking...) all of them have the same attack power (50! That's impossible!) and if you have the Silver Sheath that ups the sword's damage, then isn't the sword the best final weapon?
.....still, the spear is always the best. I'm just usually too lazy to work up the weapons. Damn dog kills everything... By the Rat King on my most recent time through (which was well... a week or so ago) I had the bronze spear to level 2 and the lance still at level 1, MAYBE level 2, I don't remember. So I used the horn spear for that extra 100+ damage... Oh well. I hate the Rat King... Cheating prick.

cheaters must die (and so he did *evil laugh*). If you use the lance you get like almost double the damage on this guy (horn spear has like 15 attack power and the lance double, I think), yes the final sword is more powerfull, but like I said the game doesnt like melee fighting (on our part at least).

Yeah, I know. I'm just way too lazy to upgrade the lance at that point. I'd rather just kill the rat guy with other methods and move on.

Bob, I thought this race was around different Final Fantasy worlds. What's the big idea going to these other game worlds? And where did each one occur in?

At first I was thinkin' of staying in Final Fantasy worlds, but then I thought it gave certain characters too much of an edge, so they're going to "foreign worlds" and only occasionally visiting FF lands. I'm sticking entirely to Squaresoft games though.... Square-Enix if you will, but I'm a pre-merger fan... Anyway, the places they've been:
FFX -> FF6 -> Chrono Trigger -> Secret of Evermore -> Parasite Eve
So yeah, three of those are SNES games. Sorry, I've played the SNES games zillions of times over. The next world I have planned is also a non-FF, but people might know it better. That's your hint for the next world, but you'll have to wait and see what the next world holds...
