Holy crap, guys! (And you know an announcement is good when it starts with "Holy crap, guys!" Speaking of video games and senile old men, but minus senile old men because this has NOTHING to do with Strago, and ONLY has awesome stuff to do with VIDEO GAMES, I just got THREE NEW GAMES for my R4 for DS! Erm... *ahem*... uhm... legally, of course, paid for and all <_< >_> *cough* Anyway, I got Lego Battles (I freakin' LOVE Lego by the way... man, Lego Final Fantasy would kick so much ass...) Scribblenauts (if you haven't seen the trailer you should check it out... you can make God and Kraken duke it out. THE KRAKEN! Also lots of other stuff, but mostly I'm still stuck on thinking of making all powerful beings duke it out right now...) AND! Mario & Luigi - Bowser's Inside Story. Man, I kept seeing this game in Japan (looking back at a picture of the box I saw online today) and I never actually KNEW it was a new Mario & Luigi game. Heck, I thought it was just partners in time or something, but they had a different box over there in the land of the rising sun... but NO! New game! WOO! And it just came out in North America on this month! (I think it comes out in Europe on the 2nd of October). But it and its "coming out" party would matter anyway, because R4 rocks my shiz TO THE MAX! WOO!

My mum, best friend, and ex-girlfriend all have R4's, so I know what they are, but haven't got one myself... I am, however, unimpressed! We went away for a weekend and I persuaded mum to part with her R4 so I could play chrono trigger on it... and it didn't work! It freezes when you first go back in time, and is apparently an anti-piracy code in the game. People insist that that's the ONLY game that's ever happened on, but I refuse to buy an R4 now. The one game I want to play on it doesn't work Buying an actual copy of the game is on my to-do list though.

I love Scribblenauts! I got it last weekend! You can get a large hadron collider and make a black hole!

You can get a large hadron collider and make a black hole! Haha, that's awesome. I've never tried using a large hadron collider to MAKE a black hole... I've only just typed in "black hole" Your way sounds like more fun. If only the black hole didn't keep killing me... xD Count, as for Chrono Trigger not working... I'll bet there's some sort of patch you can get by now. My copy of Mario and Luigi blah blah isn't working, but apparently there's already a few patches online! Mind you, if you really like Chrono Trigger (which you should because it's freakin' awesome ^_^), then I guess buying a real copy is also good. I plan on picking up Dissidia after I get a paycheck from work, now that I've started again... It'd just be so much nice to own than to download! Though I do have the "free version" for now... xD But man, I've saved a lot of money since I got the R4. If nothing else, at LEAST it acts as a good "demo" thing. I mean, I found out that a whole bunch of games I thought I wanted aren't actually that good... and other good ones I found out are REALLY good and actually WORTH buying:D Otherwise I just don't buy them...

What is the R4?

It's a little thing shaped like a DS game (there are actually lots of different brand names, but r4 is the one I know... they're all the same though...) and you stick a micro-SD card into a little slot in it. On that micro-SD card, you have some... "system"..?... files and then some Nintendo DS game files (and save files after you start playing). Anyway, it's basically an emulator for your DS, so you can download games and stick 'em on it and play. If you get the right programs, you can also usually play Advance games, and often I see people with Nintendo and even Super Nintendo games on theirs. Usually not the r4 though... usually some other brand I don't know anything about. I think r4 is one of the more simple, common ones, and I'm pretty sure it's one of the easiest to use. Drag and drop, basically... *edit: Yay! I just turned into a "preemptive strike" after this post! ^_^ Or I was before and I just noticed... either way, YAY! *

Oh, okay...that sounds handy! Is it anything like an action replay? I've seen a lot of those mess up a DS quite badly.

I've never heard of an r4 messing up a DS... also I don't know what an action replay is but I'm guessing something along the same lines...? Still, I've never heard of anything happening... sometimes games don't work or freeze up (usually because of security built into the game of the relatively sensitive micro-sd card being moved slightly), but that's of course only while playing games on the card... and resetting the DS fixes that. Well, except for game security. For that you need patches or new versions of the file. Thenagain... when you're getting agames for free, you can't really complain if they all don't work all the time...

Hey Juice! Ultros is a sumon in Dissidia! He squirts ink over yours and your opponent's Bravery stats so you can't see how well you're fighting!

Haha yeah I totally saw a video of that on Youtube! Still haven't GOTTEN him as a summon yet, though... maybe because I haven't played in forever. I gotta get the English version! I always wondered WHAT happened when he was summoned though, so it's good to know. I wonder how useful a summon like that would be against the computer, though...

Ah, you've got to get him as a level bonus, I think. Like Cactuar. I don't know how the computer would feel, but it's only slightly obnoxious.

I have this game now, thanks to getting a PSP for christmas... and I SUCK at it XD ...I mean jeez, those computers are relentless. Maybe i've not got the right equipment yet or something, but so far my best results have been using Squall and Tidus. Using Cecil and Zidane only resulted in my ass getting kicked. Still, it's good fun, but a little infuriating when you get your arse handed to you by a computer enemy with about a zillion accessories and an extra 1,000 health

You got it? Sweet!
If they're kicking your ass, try setting their levels a bit lower in Quick Battle; it's handy for training. An unfair aspect of this game is the fact that ANY level discrepancy can really hurt. Two levels higher than you? Hope you didn't want to keep your knees!
Suggestions: Read the tutorials. Funny and informative at the same time. Quick battle level grind: easy EXP. Unlock the villains. It's fun, and their dialogue in battle openings with one another can be awfully funny. Customize abilities, and spend time practicing. It's nigh impossible to do the Hero Destiny Oddessies once per person and expect to succeed in Shade Impulse. This is a friggin' long game, so don't try to do it all at once.
That's all for now...you'll need practice, and to get used to each character's style, like in any fighting game. Zidane gets in people's faces and has a lot of fairly close-quarter moves, Firion doesn't get a different HP attack other than straight arrow of 15.000 levels, and Sephiroth is just plain unfair, because you aren't ever out of reach. Ever.

Yeah, from what I can tell it's a huge undertaking. Is there any story mode for villains later on? 'Cause i've so far bought Jecht (of course) and got annihilated in the quick battles, though mostly by Zidane. I really need to unlock more moves for Jecht, because the ones he starts with aren't all that great. Shade impulse... are they those super-strong ones that are level 13 when you're about level 6? If so, I actually managed it on Squall's run through! Took me a few tries, but I quite liked Squall's tactics of getting in their face and blamming them with those circle attacks that do damage and deflect spells. Also: Magic Pot. I've only got 4 summons so far, but that's easily the best of them. It's great to go from 200 bravery to 1,600 instantly, just because your opponent did. I imagine you're a Sephiroth player regardless of how good he is? Because thats pretty much my feelings on Jecht, although I'm cack with him right now

Story Mode for Villains: Not exactly...I haven't gotten there, at any rate. It's not like the heroes story mode, that I know. I think they might, though. I hope so.
No, Shade Impluse is like a different story mode. You pick the character and go through is, but the weakest enemies are level 20 or so. Like, in the first section, level 20s. Eek. Those level 13s when you're level six are just things Destiny Oddessey is throwing at you to be mean.
I am a Sephiroth player, yeah...And I'm actually very good with him; his blows are all about timing and chains for bravery attacks, and I work well with him. He's up to level 78 now. He can summon Meteor on field, for example.
I'm kind of eh with Squall and Cloud, not too great with Cecil or Firion, good with Emperor and Kuja, though, Good with Bartz, HATE Exdeath. He's slow as hell.
Oh! Summons! I love how you can set up a reserve of 5! Carbuncle is VERY helpful sometimes.
Oh yeah! Always check Mognet! They give you extra PP and accessories! Very helpful!
